I'm very pleased about this hospital not hiring obese people....

  • Obese people need to be called out in a major way. This country's absolute, THICK BS line that people are genetically disposed to barely look like a human being needs to end. Diet and exercise.

If health insurance made sense like car insurance and it was utterly unfeasible to be insured if you were certain percentages over your height's suggested weight then obesity would drop rapidly in America. Make it expensive as hell to be obese. Please.

Im tired of paying for it and looking at it. And yes I am a Christian, these people need tough love.

  • Obviously the car insurance comment is based on if you are likely to get in an accident you're more expensive. If i am in shape and healthy it should be cheap for insurance, but it isn't because my neighbor looks like Jabba the Hutt and his whole body falls apart at age 40.

Yeah really. BMI is a stupid way to determine if someone is obese.

I am in complete agreement. A significant portion of my family is overweight. But my dad exercises and is in good shape. I work out six days a week. My sister was a collegiate diver and my cousin is a collegiate track athlete. We may be genetically predisposed to being larger but that doesn't give us free reign to do so. There is evidence people are predisposed to being alcoholics. Society doesn't give them a free pass.

Who cares about BMI. I am saying for every height there is a healthy range of weight. Then there should be 2-3 ranges above that in which whatever range you fall in it is correlative to a cost for health insurance and even things like plane tickets. They should be taxed like crazy.

Body fat percentage would be a far more accurate way to determine obesity. All I'm saying.

And let it be known that in 30 minutes a close friend of mine is coming over who is obese. They need to alter their diet and exercise for 30 minutes 5 days a week.

    I bet they'd lose 50 pounds in 6 months.

My old roommate and one of my best friends is obese. I had him doing p90x with me. He took more breaks than me and skipped some of the higher impact exercices but he lost 14 pounds in three weeks. All it takes is skipping one t.v. show a day and taking that time to exercise. Altering diet would be an added bonus but baby steps.

You can be in the 260 range and be 6'0 and still not be fat. It is all up to how well you take care of your body and how much excercise you do. I have been in the 240-260 range for most of my life, but I also workout a lot, so my Body Index is low and Muscle Index is high.

    this sounds good

then we can do some sort of cancer tests and get rid of those bastards... and since down's syndrome can be caught at an early age, let's not insure them, either, since it was somewhat genetic, but a choice to birth them...

in fact, we should only insure the healthy, that way the companies never have to pay!

  • GREAT THREAD. I work out 7 days a week and I know dang well that someone can find time for at least 3 times a week(Dramatic increase from none). Genetics are no excuse as to why someone stays obese. +1

Edit: Not trying to brag, just showing that it is easy to set aside just a little time to workout.

I dont give a crap about it being an "ok to say" thing. Just saying I have someone close to me who needs their butt kicked. Its not just an inhuman post and thought process.

DickMcJunkn is dumb enough to associate those issues. Impressive.

You qualified your thread so it appears you do in fact care. Carry on however. At least your buddy is lucky you still will be seen with him. Lol

Its for their good. Our culture coddles obesity and people die from it while costing others. If being obese was unnafordable most would cease to be so within a generation IYAM. Good for them.

Hell yeah. I think everyone should be required to work out using the exact same equipment as you and have you determine the regimen or not be insured or hired.

    You have your shit together.

I also dislike men that can't protect themselves and fight well. If some weak ass wussy wants a job, let him learn how to fight and be a real man.

Imagine a scenario where you are on the job somewhere and someone is acting crazy and attacking people or something and all the men are weak and ineffectual and can't protect those they work around.

This type of weakness and character default is unacceptable in a civilized society and should not be tolerated. By their very girlishness, they can put innocents in danger.

  • Oh yeah, and what about people with skin rashes and skin diseases of some weird type? These weirdos are always having to go to the doctor to get "treated" for something that they could probably fix on their own if they weren't so weird and lazy.

Why don't they just toughen up and work their way through it? I'm tired of these drains on society affecting my pocketbook.
