In this thread we laugh at Tennessee fans

  • This is not replacing Dooley with Dooley. Dooley didn't even have a winning record as a head coach when we hired him. Once people actually look at this guys background they start to accept the hire. This guy is proven. 4 conference titles. I'm excited about the future of our program.

LOL at winning that conference. That's what we call being the smartest retard. Butch Jones is not an SEC caliber coach. He is a last resort, and one of the few D1 coaches Dooley beat while at UTjr. They basically replaced Dooley with Dooley. Hence 90% of Tennessee fans livid over this hire.

    Gene Chizik beat Nick Saban.

How many Cincy games have you watched? If it is more than 0, I will be shocked.

He was given a turd at Cincy after Kelly left (all the good players graduated) and he quickly got them back to 10 wins in just his second season. And he did so with the worst facilities in the BE and very, very little talent.

Key words being Big East. Winning the big east is nothing special. Does he even have recruiting ties to the South? Pretty sure he doesn't. Most fans will tell you they settled, and it will definitely put them behind the 8 balls for years to come.

I appreciate your outlook. Of all the Vol fans I've talked to, around the office and on the boards, you're the only one that shares that optimism. Most are embarrassed that you just built all those nice facilities, and end up settling with your 8th choice in Butch Jones.

In Florida he does, but he is going to make a push in Ohio which is just as rich as any state not named Florida in the south. This whole recruiting ties thing is stupid. Al Golden did have any ties to SoFlo before he came in and started crushing.

Comparing Butch Jones to Dooley is laughable.

In fact, Butch Jones and Derek Dooley couldn't be anymore different.

Yes. He will go into Ohio with Urban Meyer there and raid the state. roflmao

FWIW Miami is currently second to last in the ACC in recruiting, and 76th in the nation. Recruiting ties are very important. Especially in the SEC.

Ohio St can only get so many kids, and Urban already is making an effort to make OSU a national recruiter. This year, of their 17 recruits only 7 are from Ohio.

As for Golden, we all know why Miami is down and it isn't his ability to recruit. How many other programs have ever passed on TWO consecutive bowls because they knew the hammer was coming?

My point is Golden is smack dab in a recruiting hotbed, and isn't exactly killing it. From what I know of Jones, he's all north. Born and raised in Michigan, and coached in Michigan. Had some time at WV, but not much. Has zero ties to the south from what I've seen.

And Urban's top 5 Ohio recruits are ranked the following in state: 1,2,4,10,14. The rest of the elite Ohio talent is heading to Michigan. I highly doubt Jones does much good in Ohio. If anything, he gets scraps.

OMG this hire was terrible. Butch Jones has been a head coach for 6 years and won 4 conference titles. Such a bad hire. He's also 2-1 against Charlie Strong. I hope you guys have enjoyed laughing at us cause as soon as we get a defense worth a crap we're going to start competing for SEC titles again.

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

  • It's certainly not the hire Tennessee fans were expecting.

That said, I think it's worth giving him a chance. I know I hated the Bill O'Brien hire at first (and many, many people thought it was a huge fail for PSU), but now I can't say enough good things about the job he's done at PSU.

I also tend to prefer up-and-comers in general when it comes to coaches.

Kelly is one..name another. Also, I'd wager Kelly gets taken to the woodshed by Saban in the NC. ND also doesn't play in the SEC...Tennessee does.

Six teams are capable of beating anyone in the nation. Considering there were three legit teams in each division this year, that's pretty solid. In college football one loss can doom you. UTjr. draws Bama every year, and still has to play UGA, UF and S Car.

wait. you don't think on any given day that A&M, Bama, LSU, UF, SCAR, and UGA could beat anyone? they all beat each other throughout the season, so who do you leave out?

You point is stupid because last year, Golden killed it in southern Florida. This year, more info came out and things look very bad moving forward. If you don't get why they are down, then I can't help you.
