    It's obvious the OP is talking out of his ass, it's unlikely he knows Butch Jones history very well, and just assumed because he coached in the MAC and the Big East he is crappy.

    New coaches have to move up the ranks somehow, so just saying he is crap because of where he has coaches is dumb as hell. Meyer had only coaches at Utah before moving to the SEC and dominating teams such as your own. Actually learn something before making dumb posts and assuming the guy can't coach.

    Regardless of bowl games though, you said those teams could beat any team in the nation, and that is simply not true. The only teams that could beat Oregon out of those you mentioned are Bama and LSU. The only team you mentioned that could beat Notre Dame is Alabama. The only teams you mentioned that could beat Kansas State are Alabama and LSU.

    Bowl games, outside of the national championship, don't tend to match up the best teams against each other, so your bowl game argument is invalid.

    if south carolina doesn-t beat michigan by 14, hell 21, it will be a poor performance. We are that much better

  • I love how this thread started trying to laugh at Tennessee and now you guys are arguing over bowls. The SEC is better because of the number of quality teams. Some of these SC fans are acting like our teams are unbeatable? they're not haha they're just very good and we have a high number of very good teams in our conference. That's what makes our conference the best. Going back to the original topic though, many prominent names have a lot of faith in Butch Jones and think that this might have been the best hire possible. I hope you guys have enjoyed us having our down years because deep down you know we're too good of a program to stay down long. We almost beat Georgia and SC this year and we had the worst defense in school history. We now have a proven winner at the helm and we'll be back. Give Butch some time. Wouldn't surprise me to pull an upset or two next year. Going back a 4-3 defense will help tremendously.

    Someone's mad. I'm actually quite familiar with his history. It's mostly northern based, with no experience in the south. If he was such a solid hire, he would have been contacted earlier, not the 7th or 8th choice. Fact is he has zero recruiting ties in a recruiting area that is meh at best. Morons ITT comparing him to Urban and Kelly need to have their heads examined. It was an underwhelming hire where UTjr. settled once again. Ask most of their fans, and they'll tell you the same.

  • As for the hire, he may very well be a very good coach, but he will be facing the best staffs in the country. With less talent, and that gap will widen this year with all that goes pro for utk. He has a brutal schedule next year, and most likely will be part of another sub 500 team. Kids that are being recruited simply dont remember UTk being good as they were in diapers the last time they were. They needed a sexy hire and failed

  • The guy was 3rd choice for UT at best. I have not talked to many of their fans that are happy about the hire either. Its hard to call your 3rd string guy a home run, no matter what his past.

    As for the Mich v. SC game. I don't think it is a blowout like some of you, I do think we win though. Probably around a 30 - 21 type game.
