Incredibly tired of fans tweeting recruits

  • BornToBeRed said...

    1. It's borderline creepy

    2. It's a secondary recruiting violation. Whether the NCAA acts on it or not, it's still a violation.

    3. The tweets are as often negative as they are positive. I can only imagine what high profile recruits deal with.

Can anyone give me a legitimate reason for doing this?

Also. If you're a grown man doing this -- You're rapidly approaching, or have passed, bring titled creepy.

Wholeheartedly agree. It's a joke to be honest.

Yea it is pretty bad. Especially the people that give kids a hard time for not going to their school. Create them in NCAA and recruit them there if you are that crazy about it.

I mean we all want recruits to come to our school. But it is easy to take it to far, especially with Twitter when there is so much access.

If you tweet at a recruit you are pathetic and the school you pull for should ban you from the stadium on Saturdays. It's sheer ignorance.

While I agree with this statement entirely.... I have to point out that 247 staff members spend a lot of time texting and calling recruits. I know that's the nature of the recruiting business, but I'm just saying.

Unless you are Bob Litchenfels trying to sway a recruit away from a school that you hate, it is all done for reporting, which is fine.

  • I agree completely with the OP. As for twitter all together, I follow a lot of sports media who tweet out their columns or opinions and twitter makes it easier to get it all in one place instead of having to go to several websites. Also, getting their opinions off air/not on their website is interesting.

I also follow some comedians who tweet some really funny stuff. Then there are people on twitter like @dadboner who is a fictional character who tells a story through his tweets and is hilarious.

Lastly, news breaks a lot faster on twitter. If I'm missing a game and I get on twitter and bunch of people are talking about it then ill flip it on. Sometimes a huge national news story will break on twitter, it's easier for news media to tweet quickly the details rather than write an entire column about it and then post it on their website.

I also follow a few athletes but don't tweet @ them. I also follow many of my friends who tweet funny stuff/pictures, usually of them being wasted. I love twitter.

  • Oh, and I also follow @HottiesFTW which is just an account that randomly tweets out smoking hot girls flashing the camera or having lesbian threesomes, Etc. checking that throughout the day makes work a lot better.

  • Agreed on the initial post in this thread.

It's pathetic how fans praise a recruit for considering their school and then bash the hell out of him if he chooses to go elsewhere. What makes it worse is this is a damn near impossible violation to impose because every school would be in violation of it. Some schools fan bases are far worse then others. It's pathetic that it's always the bad apples in the bunch that get the press in situations like this and make the rest of the fans/school look like sh!t. Such is the life in today's social media age.

  • Well said by the OP.

Not so well said by the people bashing twitter. You can follow a bunch of people and not tweet, and Twitter breaks all news.

  • I use Google Reader to "follow" people on twitter. Used to be really convenient until Twitter screwed RSS feeds. Still works, but took a little finagling.

Seriously? Isn't this whole site about following 16&17 year old kids??? WTF? This whole tacking of where this kid will go or what he is doing is beyond creepy. My god man look in the mirror. The RCMB Got dragged into this muck. The whole site just follows teenage boys.

Oh and tweeting them is worse. Not much though.
