Indefinite Suspension

  • Is this not weak sauce? Coach looks like he's doing something. Once all the publicity dies down, players are re-instated and never miss a game. Not sure why media lets coaches off the hook for this crap

I'll bite. As a general rule I would agree with you. However, no one that Saban has ever "indefinitely suspended" has ever contributed again.

  • Whenever I hear the term, I always think of Michael Floyd's suspension in March that was lifted just before fall practice. What a joke.

Not just Bama, it's been used a dozen times. I can think of multiple examples where a dude was "indefinitely suspended" and then never misses a snap.

Bet you can't name one at Bama. Indefinite suspension is code word for avoiding legal action. They'll kick them off once facts are gathered.

Correct. Plenty of coaches have reinstated, but I've never known Saban to while at Alabama.

Unlike Urban Meyer and Storm Klein, for example.

  • I don't have a problem with the Indefinite Suspension by any coach. Time should be given to allow for facts to be gathered and the legal process to work before any final decision is made. This should be afforded to all people and football players are no different.

    bamabum5

  • LOL, indefinite suspension is pretty much par for the course. Once a kid gets in trouble, you suspend pending outcome of case. Innocent until proven guilty. Spurrier does the same thing exactly. It has no bearing on whether the kid gets kicked off or not, it just means you are immeadiatly addressing the situation.

  • Coach Saban is out of town for his one vacation he takes every year. Knowing the type of coach he is he will want to sit these guys down in his office and give them a stern talk before kicking them off the team. Its not like he will let them off the hook. They are gone.

This is actually true. We were going to have some attrition but this makes things a little easier to manage. I know you were trying to troll but I actualyl agree that we needed some room to be made.

iirc he was booted from team, then re-instated when charges dropped. Dont recall an indefinite suspension, he was booted.

Yeah, Storm was guilty until proven innocent. Once Urbs caught wind of it he was kicked out and missed the first few weeks of fall practice. Later it was discovered it was his childs mother lying/exaggerating so she could get custody. Once the investigation was over, and the coaches reviewed it and met with him, he was allowed back on the team

Saban looks horrible for this decision at the moment... Dismiss them... if it pans out they are innocent... then re-instate them.... smh

Yes, you can turn anything a PSU poster says into a PSU joke. It's not that hard for any person over 6 years old with a brain. Most people don't need to do it though for some self-validation.

Honestly, when I hear the term I think of Michael Floyd. Nothing against ND, it's just the example that comes to my head. Nobody cares about you ruining every thread by turning them into anti-PSU threads.

Also, what are you talking about with 0 time missed? Most of the crimes were first time offenses for underages or public intoxication.

As for the more serious crimes, NaVorro Bowman was suspended for the final regular season game of the 07 season, then the bowl game, then spring practice in 08 for his assault charge, the most highly publicized of those events.

Dan Connor (and other players) was suspended indefinitely (which ended up being three games) for making prank phone calls.

Two of the best PSU players were suspended for the crap they did. Stop spewing lies.
