No you are talking about being against the death penalty because of things like this. It is and will always be a necessary evil besides play pretend (God forbid) someone close to you was brutally murdered over stupid shit, would you not be for the death penalty then? Would you want justice for your wife, daughter or son? Vengeance is human nature and you just do not know how strong it is until it happens to you. I have my opinion as we all do but I am glad most of these correctly convicted to the death penalty have NO chance to destroy others lives.

It is definitely not necessary. I'm not sure why you think that.

I probably would want to kill someone if they senselessly and brutally murdered a family member of mine, but that has nothing to do with this. I would want justice for them, and having an innocent person put to death while the real killer got away is not what I call justice.

Sure it is necessary! I have been mad enough to kill someone on a few occasions but it is the fear of the consequences that kept me in check just like it is for most. If it were not for that fear of the punishment you would be hearing about more murders than you do now. I would bet if a study was done on murders per capita from the time we hung, electrocuted, gassed murderers through now that we just quietly put them to sleep forever peacefully the so called humane way you will see that murders have spiked profoundly. There will always be those that do not give a shit about the consequences period and do not deserve to walk in this world but the rest of us need that reminder to keep us in check.

Just to clarify. If this man is actually innocent it is a bad deal but your OP stated you were against the death penalty all together. kind of a different era now though with DNA evidence allowed, it helps to convict correctly and exonerate if the evidence is handled properly and is becoming more and more an exact science.

Yeah. Why would an American ever feel the need to run from the cops.

Spun it into a race issue, typical American media. Wasted a lot of potential.

Really? You would have murdered people if not for the consequences? And there have been a lot of studies about the death penalty and deterrence. You should check them out.

There are many cases with no DNA evidence.

  • So basically its better to lock up the innocent for 40+ years instead of just killing them by accident once every few years if that even

I guess, not sure what gives you the right to make that decision though

Either way this thread is gay

If you don't think race is a part of this issue you are delusional.

  • Not going to read the article or anything or the underlying tones in this but thought that I would at least offer a professional experience to this thread.

Innocent or not you might as well kill me than give me life without parole in a maximum security prison. Just get it fvcking over with. When you start getting into maximum security or supermax and have no way out then do what you need to. I would rather just be put down then live 50 plus years in that fvcking wasteland.

Im sure most would feel this way, and lulz at all these people trying to fight for you to get exactly what you might not want

And they think they are doing you a favor by deciding a life decision for you

Bunch of freaking do gooder morons that don't think at all, they just think about what " they " think is best like true selfish assholes

  • 1st off, im for capital punishment, BUT only for cases in which there is no doubt...guys like dahmer or brutal murderers caught in the act, etc....

so for this case, where it could be mistaken identity, i say no death penalty because there is a chance he could be innocent....

question for the anti capital punishment people...are you ok with capital punish when there is no doubt (you witnessed and caught the guy yourself) for example...

Its obvious non of these fools have ever left american soil unless it was backpacking through the safest part of paris with a bunch of college kids

so, you chose to spend your time in the most dangerous parts of foreign countries .. what for the experience or to later be able to take a position of inflated self-worth on a future message board? Are we supposed to be impressed that on your travels you stayed in ghettos and were intermixed in the local guerilla warfare .. and otherwise living it down with the worldwide poors?
