I am looking for a new job and need to do some online job searches but I only have my worked issued laptop. If I am logged into my own, secure, home network and not the companies VPN, can they still see what I my internet searches are related too?

Yes, if you leave any traces behind. I don't know how free you are to install software on the computer, but just use Google Chrome's incognito mode, and you'll hide traces for anyone who isn't looking too deeply.
