Everybody talking down on Pac's lyrics and calling him overrated need to stop listening to rap music, period.
Clearly, the genre isn't for you. And, his struggle wasn't the same as "the modern black man," lol. Tupac was raised by high ranking Black Panther members, his moms once was charged with more than 150 charges of conspiracy against the US.
His representation of thug life meant, him against the gov't officials/police.

So if you don't think pac is a good lyricist, rap isn't for you. Lol.
I could very well turn this around and say if you think pac is a good lyricist than YOU don't know rap.
2pac can't hold a candle to Nas, Biggie, or Rakim as well as the Wu-Tang. Deal with it.

Meh,
Like I said ealier ITT. I don't think 2-Pac sucks for sure and I'm not going to bash anyone for thinking he is the best rapper or their favorite by any means. I feel the same way about Run-DMC. I look for other things when I think of the "greatest" but neither mentions are scrubs by any means.

That's not real lyricism. This southern club based rap these days is not the type of rap we're talking about in this thread. None of those guys would even be considered when talking lyricism.
I'd rather hear a rapper with dope lyrics without a beat than hear a rapper ride a beat well but have bs lyrics.
Best lyricist and best rapper are far different things. Being the best rapper entails much more than lyrics. Jay-Z, while a great lyricist, ranks higher on the best rapper list than the best lyricist list. His influence on the entire landscape of rap is why. He is the godfather of modern day mainstream rap music. He made a lot of the rappers today money just because of the way he took the circuit corporate. He showed others how to make rap a business and not just a job.

Is 2pac the greatest rapper of all time?
