I am still of the opinon that Hoke is the guy who would bring back respectability to the program, but he wouldn't get them back to Championship form. Clearly, they have a lot of issues on both lines, WR, RB, DBs and LB, but look at the position their coaches put them in tonight. The only weapon they have is Barry Sanders at QB, and they asked him to be Troy Aikman. Who does that? They'll build depth, but they'll be the 3rd best B1G team at best until Hoke moves on in 4-5 years.

So if literally our entire team sucks in your opinion, what position did our coaches put them in? This game was scheduled 3 years ago by our athletic director. Once Hoke gets to use the system he and his defensive coordinators want and the top-5 recruiting classes who will fill those voids hit campus, we will be back to Championship form.
While we got spanked around, most of that was provoked by them dominating the trenches. That will not happen against us all season, not even close, and the rest of our team will look much better IMO. I liked what I saw from Gardner and Gallon at WR, Fitz will be back, and we will surprise people during B1G play.

Having issues doesn't mean a team sucks. I'm just trying to find areas of strength. The one is Denard. Hoke had his system in place for tonight's game, which is what neutralizes Denard's strengths. Take Denard and put him in a game like tonight and tell me where your strengths are. Gallon makes a handful of plays each game, it seems. Gardner caught one pass, and was targeted a minimum of a half dozen times. He had at least three on his hands, and the DB broke one up that he should have had.
The B1G is clearly weak this year, so you shouldn't have many problems. Wisky, Iowa, Northwestern, PSU, Indiana all showed themselves to be not quite ready for prime time. But that wasn't what I was saying. Michigan has a was to go before they have consistency and depth. After having all summer to put together a game plan for Alabama, I also question their coaching staff.

Bama's OLine was insane. They've got really good RBs who had giant holes to cut through.
Denard is who he is. He's a ~50% passer who makes his plays with his feet. Bama had a good enough defense to take that away. Michigan looks to have like 1 playmaker. Fitz wouldn't have made that game any closer.

Hoke's system is not to neutralize Denard's strength you old sack of hairy balls. That is not what a system is. Hoke and Borges' system is to utilize 6'3"+ receivers with two TE's in a pro-style, man-ball attack. We will be a run-first team. We have issues everywhere I just mentioned, according to you.
The ball broken up by the DB against Gardner was great defense. He, nor any receiver is expected to come down with a ball like that. Not to mention it's his first game at the position. He's big, fast and athletic and I guarantee he will have a great year.
I'm not sure what you think a coaching staff does, but if you haven't noticed, they do not play. Rich Rod was a dipshit and has left us with solid spread players who would be considered scraps in a pro-style offense.
