Is Bill Snyder the best coach in the country?

  • Personally, I say yes. A lot of have coaches have won at Alabama and Notre Dame in the past, but how many coaches have ever won at Kansas State? Just Bill Snyder. K-State hasnt even reached mediocrity without him. They have always been horrendous without him

  • I smell more hate lol. All seriousness Bill Snyder is a d@mn good coach. RTR

  • Certainly does more with less than any other coach probably ever.

  • I still think it is hard to deny that Saban is the best coach out there but Bill Snyder does wonders with the talent he has.

    It is hard to say.

Would make sense to me if you temporarily took Bama out of the discussion and started by comparing him to Oregon, ND and KSU since they all currently have the most in common at this juncture (none have won a NC the last 5 years or ever and all are undefeated and top four in the country). If the overall consensus is that Coach Snyder is the best coach in that group then he deserves to be compared one on one with a coach who's won two out of three NC's and is once again 8-0. I thinking making it a two part question would open us up to a longer thread, more debate and ultimately more accurate results.

You just described chip kelly as well. But he has an elite team yearly.

Mike Bellotti had a decent amount of success before Chip Kelly came along. Nobody at Kansas State has ever had an iota of success other than Bill Snyder

That's kinda what I was thinking with my post but I think making it a two part question makes the most sense given what ND, KSU and Oregon currently have in common posted above. I could be missing the mark though just seems like a better setup. Jmo

Good point. We were on the way up just hadn't reached the level of consistency we have with chip.

What ksu has done has been remarkable. Very surprised with them this year.

Thed biggest argument against Saban being far and away superior to every other coach like most people think is just the fact that he only has 3 conference championships in 15 years of coaching between Michigan State, LSU, and Alabama. Saban still only has 1 SEC championship at Alabama at this point. He also has a team full of 4 and 5 star recruits. Bill Snyder does not

FYI Bill Snyder only has one outright conference title. I think it is somewhat of an argument on who's the better coach. It would be fun to see what Bill Snyder could do with Bama's players. But Saban dominates Snyder in recruiting and that isn't even remotely close. Snyder absolutely does more with less though. Snyder IMO means way more to KSU than Saban does to Bama though. Bama could go out and get a great coach again once Saban retires/leaves. KSU is not in that same situation. Obviously Bama has a ton more recruiting advantages also.

  • Not true. Saban has more NFL wins than Synder. Really no other way to judge a college football coach IMO.

True. That's likely one of the reasons CNS said "This is not the end, it's the beginning" after the 09 NC and less than two weeks ago said "I think most people know I'm here for the long haul, I'm not satisfied with my performance, but I am satisfied with myself being here". I'd say he has more goals to accomplish by reading that.
