Is Carl Lawson a Top 25 player in 2013?

  • Kid just added his 2nd Nike Camp MVP award after dominating Charlotte. I imagine he will finish up at least ~20-30ish in the final rankings on just about every site.

    You should because he is better than Bryce Harper, RG3, EJ Manuel, and Rick Trickett combined.

    ESPN already has him at #5 overall, fwiw. This site and TOS have him squarely in the Top 100 for now. I'm sure he'll be moving up a good bit on those two and down some on ESPN before it's all said and done.

    It appears from all accounts that Lawson is LEGIT and is perhaps a top 25 talent. Seems to have ideal size, strength and explosiveness.

    With that said, I attended the Georgia AAAAA 1st Round Playoff Game between Walton (Tyren Jones-RB, Brandon Kublanow- Oline, Parker McLeod-QB) on Nov 11, 2011. At the time, I wasn't aware of Lawson and he did nothing during the game for me to notice him as Walton lead 41-7 at halftime and Tyren Jones had ~310 All-Purpose Yards and 5 TDs.....by halftime.

    Again, he seems to have elite talent and I will see him play against Walton this 2012 Season on Oct 26th.

    Lawson is #52 in the white jersey/red pants in the attached Walton vs Milton highlights.

    Not going to lie to you since I PLAYED in that region. Milton always has one beast a year. Walton is always solid, so they probably were double teaming and scheme blocking his ass the whole game.

  • He is borderline, I would have him just around 20-25, but I could see him getting pushed down after senior seasons. Camp warrior, but like BBD said, he can disappear on the field. Part of that is because Milton sucks and he is easy to concentrate on, though.

    ESPN has him ridiculously high. Top 5 is much too high, especially having him over Montravious. headslap
