Well you could have Matt Ryan and his statistically better offense and defense.
Or you could have Joe Flacco who does nothing but win when it matters most.
Flacco led his team to a superbowl. That automatically puts him ahead of all the QBs that have never won it all.

I'm at 4 SD games a year, Rivers losses us almost as many as he wins us anymore, and if I'm not mistaken he had a hell of a lot better game than Kap and the juries still out on Wilson, Luck and RG3. If I'm not mistaken, a certain Cam had a great rookie season only to follow it up with a dud.....and you said Matty Ice

Id pay any QB who can win me a SB and play in the playoffs on the ROAD against PEYTON and BRADY like Joe did.
And Rivers, Kapernick, Luck and RG3 and Russell Wilson are not better qbs than Flacco.
Maybe one day Kap, Luck and RG3 will be, but not now.
Based on body of work ill take a season with a SBMVP over a ROY like RG3.

I'd pay him too, but not Drew Brees money. He isn't even close to being on that level. They really have no choice, but to pay him though.
I'd take Kap, Luck, RG3 and Wilson over Flacco for next year.

Flacco's stats since Cam Cameron got fired. (Excluding week 17 game where he only played 1 series)
118-202 1703 yards 15 TD's(16 total) 1 INT 8.43 YPA That's 6 total games.
In a 16 game season that's 4541 yards 40 TD 3 INT
Obviously that's not going to happen next year because it would be the greatest statistical season for a QB in NFL history, but you know who else underachieved/sucked under Cam Cameron?
Drew Brees. Now look at him.
