Is Johnny Football an NFL quality starting QB?

  • Lesticals said...

I love the part where he says "The only real knock is his size".. Lulz, that's a big arse knock don't ya think?

I like you TAMUWOLVERINE but you're wrong on this topic.

+1 and right after that he says his arm strength is in question

    So 2 knocks = 1.... derr wut ?

Let me rephrase that, easily has the potential to be an NFL starting QB one day, better?

That is fair but still a reach at this point

One thing people forget is how quickly hype can come and go

And this poor kid has to live up to a lot, not only continue to dominate the best league in america but anything short of 3 more Heisman's will be a disappointment of sorts

By the time his draft day comes, we might be looking at somebody that nobody is excited about in terms of next level talent

    Clowney's $5 million policy cost about $30,000

    Who's paying for that? Hmmmmm

    Bubububu arm strength! 1! 1! 1

I guess you'd rather have logan thomas then

Yes of course, I'd rather take an even worse QB cause of arm strength

They both suck imo, Im really getting tired of Johnny Football

Can't wait until Bama and UF murder him next year

While a player can arrange his own policy, they can also purchase it through the NCAA, who of course works with an insurance company to provide. Very common practice, and could be 40-50 players a year buying insurance. As I understand it, the premium is deferred until the player is in the NFL. If he doesn't make it, well that would really suck.

I never said his arm strength was in question, I actually said the contrary. He can make all of the throws, he just doesn't have a cannon like Vick or JaMarcus Russell.

He's definitely got a lot to live up to. If he doesn't win a natty and another Heisman while he's here, I'm sure most would see that as a disappointment.

He's just a damn good football player, though. He may not have prototypical NFL size but he's always been incredibly motivated to prove the doubters wrong and he's had success proving everyone wrong at every level. I know it's a little bit homer but JMO.

I dunno.. He just looks so short and skinny... Brees and Wilson are a lot more thick than Johnny.. Johnny looks like a high school kid and I just don't see it but time will tell.

I've seen him a couple of times in person. He's 5'10" and probably about 195. He's a lot better athlete than people give him credit for. Similar to Wilson, they're both multiple sport athletes.

No doubt, Im just not seeing an NFL high rounder

But he could just keep proving people wrong for all I know

Sheeeet we gonna beat them again, this time in Tiger Stadium.. Our D tailor made to stop that type of O.. TAMU is the most overrated team in the country going into next season.. They beat 1 good team all season last year and lost to the other 2 good teams they played.

It is a smart business decision . Odds are good a freshman heisman winner will least make it to NFL

Twice as smart when you consider that the value placed on him insurance wise may never be higher than it is right now.

Probably not.. I wish but I live in Houston for work and I usually work most Fridays and there's no way I'm driving to BR on Friday night/Sat morning with game day traffic... Or have they moved our game to the Good Friday Game yet?

Yeah, I understand. It's going to be a difficult game to get tickets for too. It'll be badass when they move the game to Thanksgiving Weekend. There's not much better than tailgating for Thanksgiving with a fried turkey and good football.

Bol killed me yesterday for saying he won't be a first rounder. I know the trend is shifting a bit but I'm still not sure it's enough to make up for his height

Bol kills everyone if you don't think like the rest of the sect. Seriously prob have some of the biggest homers online on Bol.

  • He'll be a Jeff Garcia/Flutie type. Run around and make a lot of plays but your team won't be anything great. Sort of like having a prime Stephon Marbury as your PG.

  • All's I know is that something about his face makes me angry. Don't know what it is. I've watched a combined maybe 5 minutes of TAMU games.....only things i know about him are from articles/ people retweeting him....and he comes off as maybe the biggest dbag possible

  • It is easy to see he is a polarizing player. There are lots of comments here to agree upon in this thread. He is absolutely irritating to look at and amazing to watch. The fumbled snap, touchdown throw against Alabama was a tremendously athletic play.
He doesn't have a chunky build for sure and there aren't many modern NFL quarterbacks with a slight frame. On the other side he was a "marked man" for much of last season in the SEC and he mostly avoided injury.
As to arm strength, I guess that is an opinion. He consistently made the long sideline throw and I didn't see the deep throws being a problem. Not a cannon, but adequate. (I didn't see but three of his games.)
Success in the NFL imo depends heavily on getting with the right team. I think that Brees, for example, didn't have one year in Seattle with the completion percentage that he has for his career because he is so successful in NO. If JM goes to right team...successful, imo.

Yeah, Brees' Seattle career was a mess.
