Is Max Browne overrated?

  • Remember USC fans I just got done calling Kiffin a future all timer the other day so I am not flaming you all.

Reading reports from all the camps this summer you'd think he was a high four star. #1 in one review, next camp he's listed as someone who struggled, next camp he's listed 3th or 5th depending on the site.

Him being #2 overall seems like a farce.

  • Haven't seen a negative report made about him. Is he struggling today?

    Alonzo Harris

  • I'll go ahead get the "Shane Morris is the #1 QB" out of the way right now.

  • Should be no higher than a three star because of his looks alone

You have actively avoided them then. Just read an E11 report ten minutes ago listing him as 7th best QB at the event so far. There's been PLENTY this summer saying he "Struggled" or "Didn't look good out there"

I dunno but I feel sorry for the recruiting hostess drawing the short straw on his visit.

  • Yes, he is very overrated. He actually moved up in spots recently so I would say that all the staff here that has adjusted his ranking over this struggling summer is incompetent.

Yeah he is. I'm pretty sure Kiffin has seen the error of his ways.

When Barkley came out of high school he was an INT machine. He's gotten better since then, no?

JC sad he was very impressive yesterday and stood out. He played very well at the opening and was named the best qb there by this site.

"Browne was very impressive. Goff too.
Malik Zaire has gold cleats- sweet."

"If you just consider the 7-on-7 work- Cooper Bateman, Kevin Olsen, Anthony Jennings, Woulard and Max Browne all stood out, along with Jared Goff at times.
Shane Morris was best overall yesterday. I thought Browne was best overall prospect the first session."

    Have they even started today?

My question is in part asking if there is a bias here towards Max Browne, you providing links where THIS SITE praises him doesn't help. He's not the #2 recruit in the country. He's Kiel all over again.

No site is saying he struggling. Mike Farrell over at Rivals rated him the 7th best performer yesterday out of 25. From reading Mike Farrell's comment Max Browne seems like a pretty good QB, a fairly cerebral signal caller with good accuracy and a good, but not great arm strength.

However the truth is until their is a pass rush the defense is running complex coverages you won't find out what a QB has. However, these camps give you a good feel for the physical tools each QB has and they give you a quick feel (not good feel) for how they handle the mental parts of the game (7 on 7), though again without a pass rush and complex defenses, you are not getting the same feel for the mental side as you are of their physical tools.

Thanks for pousting that I don't usually read Farrel's evals.

This site loves Max Browne though. Not going to say he struggled when they have him so highly rated.

Max Browne will prove it on the field on gameday with pads and full contact and not at camps that don't showcase the real playing field.rant

This site updates the rankings all the time. They drop and promote guys often. You don't have to agree with the rankings, but its not a conspiracy.

What does Espn have to do with anything? (I'm chill)

He ask if he's overated, i responded end of story (free boardcool). Max Browne is were he needs to be and so far he has shown that..only time will tell if he's a burst or star.

  • nothing to get worked up about. The main difference is that Michigan needs Shane Morris to develop into a top caliber QB, Penn St needs Hackenburg to do that, USC does not need Brown to develop into a top QB. If Brown does not, we have others who will, if he does, then great.
