Is Mike Brown a good fit for the Lakers?

  • In my opinion the answer is no. He was successful as an assistant at San Antonio and was a really good coach for the Cavs, but I'm not sure he has the personality or charisma to coach a team like the Lakers. I would have much rather seen us hire a guy like Brian Shaw than Brown. Shaw has no head coaching experience but he knows the triangle offense. I'm not sure if Brown is willing to stick to that philosophy or run his offense. Thoughts??

  • Is it official?

2 worse nightmares this off season

1.Mitch Kupchak still operating as Lakers G.M

    2. Jeff Van Gundy and Mike Brown becoming candidates for the vacant Laker coaching job.

  • It is official.

They will not be running a triangle offense...but will incorporate parts of it into their system.

The Lakers will play better defense.

Lackluster hire IMO. Although that may not be fair considering who he is replacing.

  • Monte Williams for the Hornets would be good. That guy can flat out coach. Amazing what he did with the Hornets this year on defense.

No talent on that team and had a top THREE defense the whole season.

What happened to Shaw?? I thought he was being groomed to succeed Jackson.

I guess he's going to the Bay Area, with another former Laker Jerry West.I think many players pitched for Shaw but ultimately the Buss's felt Brown was a better choice over him,Adleman,Dunleavy.

Apparently, the Buss family doesn't feel comfortable hiring a head coach with no coaching experience. Like Yum said he is more than likely on his way to Golden State. I don't see anyone succeeding there with the players that they have so he will probably be fired after a year or two. That's too bad for him. Shaw was endorsed by Kobe Bryant and the Buss family did not take his recommendation in to account.

The Lakers will be better defensively but I don't see them improving with him. He will be gone in 3 years.

  • I hate to say it, but Magic was right, that team needs to be blown up. I think with as tough as the West is right now, you won't see the Lakers in the playoffs in 2 or 3 seasons. They'll go through the same kind of purgatory that the Bulls when through after 1998 IMO.

I think they will still make the playoffs after Kobe retires. But they will be a 7th or 8th seed unless they can get Chris Paul and D. Howard.

  • I don't think Brown is a strong enough personality to pull all the different problems together. The personality issues won't be resolved... Blowing up the team might be in the plans with this hire. Just my opinion.

Why?We actually have some pretty good players on this team,we just need to add more youth to the team.Blowing up the team, would be absolutely crazy unless we get some great pieces back.At this point i think guys like Joe Smith,Theo Ratliff,Steve Blake,Perhaps Luke Walton and D Fish are out.

Not even a year. He left in the middle of his first season for health reasons. Kurt Rambis took over for him and they did nothing.

I kinda like Artest,so it's kinda like a iffy scenario for me to even fathom or consider,in the long run it may be good for the Lakers but i think he could be a good asset to the team for another couple of years.
