In my opinion the answer is no. He was successful as an assistant at San Antonio and was a really good coach for the Cavs, but I'm not sure he has the personality or charisma to coach a team like the Lakers. I would have much rather seen us hire a guy like Brian Shaw than Brown. Shaw has no head coaching experience but he knows the triangle offense. I'm not sure if Brown is willing to stick to that philosophy or run his offense. Thoughts??

It is official.
They will not be running a triangle offense...but will incorporate parts of it into their system.
The Lakers will play better defense.
Lackluster hire IMO. Although that may not be fair considering who he is replacing.

I hate to say it, but Magic was right, that team needs to be blown up. I think with as tough as the West is right now, you won't see the Lakers in the playoffs in 2 or 3 seasons. They'll go through the same kind of purgatory that the Bulls when through after 1998 IMO.

Apparently, the Buss family doesn't feel comfortable hiring a head coach with no coaching experience. Like Yum said he is more than likely on his way to Golden State. I don't see anyone succeeding there with the players that they have so he will probably be fired after a year or two. That's too bad for him. Shaw was endorsed by Kobe Bryant and the Buss family did not take his recommendation in to account.
The Lakers will be better defensively but I don't see them improving with him. He will be gone in 3 years.

Why?We actually have some pretty good players on this team,we just need to add more youth to the team.Blowing up the team, would be absolutely crazy unless we get some great pieces back.At this point i think guys like Joe Smith,Theo Ratliff,Steve Blake,Perhaps Luke Walton and D Fish are out.

Is Mike Brown a good fit for the Lakers?
