Exactly. Wendel is obviously being retarded and/or brainwashed. Just making stuff up as he goes.

The guy who wants to implement austerity measures during a time of historically low borrowing rates and as we are just exiting a recession is accusing me of being retarded/making stuff up?

Huh? I don't want to implement austerity measures, but I do take exception to people trying to say Obama tried them. He never got anywhere close to real austerity, just did enough so he could say he tried and the sheeple would believe him.

We are technically not in the recession anymore, but you guys act like we are in a period of great prosperity or even on the brink of it. We haven't escaped the event horizon of the recession yet, and IYAM we are far more likely to fall back into it than truly come out of the recession. Where are the jobs? Unemployment figures are down because people stopped looking for work, not because they found it. Stock market gains are the big companies, not the average American becoming more prosperous.

I swear, you guys cannot see the forest for the trees.

I actually agree with all of this, but my question is, how would you propose to make this better? I object to a lot of Obama's policies and actions, but one of the main reasons I'm going to vote for him is because Romney won't do anything but push more and more wealth into the hands of corporations and the super-wealthy. Unfortunately, it's definitely a choice of the lesser of two evils when it comes to financial policy, but Romney's track record at Bain indicates nothing but contempt for anyone whose net worth isn't at least in the tens of millions of dollars.

  • Just to make it clear and this has been my belief in general and my cause in these political threads: the extremes being espoused by posters in the political threads are not the reality.

Obama is neither socialist nor communist, tyrant nor saint. The economy isn't a tragic recession nor a booming giant. This administration's record isn't glorious, but it's not the "worst presidency in modern history" Etcetera, etc.

    Again. Pragmatism. Realism.

Not hyperbole. Not Partisanship. Not unnecessary, facetious misrepresentation.

    For some.

I'm sick of the "oh you don't think Obama hasn't been a bad president, i most only conclude you think he's a great president" or "you don't think we are in a recession, then you must think everything is great".

Conversely, it's not fair to conclude the reverse as well, but it happens.

  • It was Obama's decision to attack the compound. You bet your a$$ that if Osama got away, conservatives would blame it on him.

Not to mention the fact that if Osama's not in the compound for some reason, we just created an international incident by sending armed troops into a private Pakistani home for no good reason. The only scenario where this turns into a win for Obama is if everything goes right and we get Osama.

I love how people are so willing to dismiss Obama's role in this, while neglecting the fact that Bush had Osama in the crosshairs multiple times and never pulled the trigger authorizing a raid with ground troops.

CIA Chief Panetta: Obama Made 'Gutsy' Decision on Bin Laden Raid | PBS NewsHour | May 3, 2011

In a newsmaker interview with Jim Lehrer on Tuesday, CIA Director Leon Panetta described the tension of waiting for the final outcome of the U.S. Navy SEAL raid on Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, plus the preparations for the assault and what uncertainties President Obama faced in deciding to OK the attack.

  • This thread is dumb. It sounds like everyone that is going to vote for Romney will do that, and everyone that is going to vote for Obama will do that. I have not read one fence riding post in this entire thread. So, if no one is being swayed, why do we have a five page moot thread. Finally, If you do not own a corporate business, it really does not make a difference who any of you bumbasses vote for.

The thread started off mocking the influx of political threads into tBB recently, but it just devolved, as most political threads on this board tend to do.

Speaking only for myself, the main reason I continue to posts in threads like this is because I can't stand misinformation being spread around. I have no problem with opinions, but when factual information is just flat-out wrong, I feel an obligation to correct it and post the actual facts of a given issue.
