Is Penn State really a Blue Blood?

University of Toledo. It's actually probably the equivalent to an Alabama education.

Dumbest thing I have ever read

Please don't let stereotypes get in the way of statistical data

  • Wow, this got chippy! Look, getting back to the original topic, Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma, USC are the Blue Bloods of college football. Each of these schools define how football is played across the country, their coaches have been legends. Not just elite...legends. Bo, Woody, Ara, Bear for example. There are really 2 test to see if you're a blue blood.
1- how many people are wishing for your program to go up in flames? When Tressel was fired there was dancing in the streets nationwide. When Bama and USC got hit with sanctions people were giddy. The RichRod years and Notre Dame and Texas current streak of mediocrity has brought jeers nationwide. Oklahoma actually fails this test because there's not a lot of outrage over their 1-3 record in championship games.

2- Even at your worse when another team beats you it's program changing. A win against any of those teams is almost worth double...UNLESS you're a blue blood yourself (see: Ohio State vs. USC- the losses were felt more by the Ohio State side than the win was celebrated on the USC side. That's why USC would be slightly ahead of Ohio State if we were ranking blue bloods).

This post and its contents is not meant to demean or marginalize the contributions of Jim Tressel as Head Coach at The Ohio State University

I think OU passes the test because even though they have that 1-3 record people have always pulled against them. I mean they may not get pulled against like Bama, Ohio State and USC but they do have quite a few people pulling against them

How long did a Toledo student troll you inferior Alabama fans?...and students? lol

And there goes that Toledo education on a roll again

Trolling has nothing to do with the intelligence of a person

I dont even think you were trolling. You were proven a tard and then fell back on the ole "I was trolling" excuse

But good try, do your Domers proud in the excruciating hard life of a Toledo Rocket student

Notre Dame has got to have the biggest haters nationwide.

Probably because ND fans are undeservedly arrogant and entitled, and have the most sidewalk fans of any team in the nation.

    TalHawkins112

  • Toledo! Lmao at least I attended the university I cheer for! It's all about the education you know, being a football fan is secondary! Toledo!

What does attending the University of your favorite football team have to do with anything?

It gives you credibility as a fan and proves you didn't pick a program just because they were good when you decided to be a CFB fan.

    TalHawkins112

  • IrishImpact said...

Thats the most ridicilous comment I've ever read. So your calling every Alabama fan that didn't attend the University a hack fake?

Dude, you can't even spell ridiculous or you're*

And no, there's plenty of real Bama fans who didn't go to the school but are fans because they live in Alabama or have parents who went. But it seems like ND has a lot of fans who become fans just because they were good once and have no connection to the school.

Petty calling out spelling errors. Your reachin'. and whats wrong with rooting for a team just because you have no connection to the school? That's silly. So in theory a kid from Louisiana isn't allowed to root for your Tide? Pretty shallow. Fool.

You're right, I shouldn't look down on the ignorant and less intelligent than I. I will no longer hold your spelling errors against you.

Good luck with community college, I'll be happy for you when you're managing the gas station instead of pumping the gas.

Because you have your nose stuck in the air about he education at Notre dame while sitting in freshman lit class at Toledo. Downgrading sec athletes as being dumb jocks when most of them attend a more prestigious school than you!

  • The big question is, are we going to re-up the Irish for the Blue Bloods Club? I'm not sure they're meeting the requirements anymore.

10 out of 10 people have ND as a blue blood. No question about it. ND is the original blue blood. ND paved the way. Keep trying...

So did the Wright Brothers, but we don't put their Kittyhawk flight and the Apollo missions to the moon on the same platform, ya dig?

Can you tell me what the definition of ''Blue Blood'' is then?

Quite honestly, I have no idea. Is it just programs who have been around for forever, were historically good, and still are? Does enough historical success overcome recent issues? Did Alabama cash in its BB card for a few years during probation? Do ND and PSU need to check theirs in until they reclaim spots at the top? I mean, would Yale be the original blue blood?

Dunno buddy, when you reach 25 years without a title, I think you're out.

    TalHawkins112

  • IrishImpact said...

    You have no idea?

My point was the definition is becoming ambiguous IMO. Again, Yale was the originator but I don't consider them a Blue Blood, mostly because of their zero success for decades.

Well you're right Yale is nowhere near a BB. Now your making more sense. Keep going your onto something.

Well tell me, Irish, what have you and Penn State done for me lately? We've had the legacy of success AND the modern success. Y'all went, what, nearly 15 years without a bowl victory? Not very BB like.

But SEC athletes are dumb everyone knows that come on now. and when you say prestigious are you referring to the football programs? Because I wouldn't put the words prestigious and SEC in the same sentence when referring to academics that's honestly kind of stretching it.

Okay now you're just blind and willfully ignorant.

I showed you proof Bama is a much more prestigious and better academic school than Toledo.

And no, SEC athletes are just like athletes everywhere else, including ND. I'm not buying this BS about you holding athletes to everyone else's standards.

    TalHawkins112

  • To be fair, Irish, to show you I'm not just ND bashing, during the own down period I considered us on BB probation until right about 2008.
