Is Saban going back to the NFL?

  • Ichabod said...

I agree with this post completely.

Saban knows his advantage in CFB is that he out works everyone and it shows on the recruiting trail.

He won't have full control over his team in the NFL while he has it at Bama. I'll lick white dog shit if he leaves.

So, he's not a good coach, he can just pay better? I mean, if he was a good coach, wouldn't that translate to the NFL, like Carrol and Harbaugh have done? He needs to have superior talent in order to win, and when everything is the same he just can't?

It's not all about talent. NFL prima donnas won't buy into his philosophy.

But they'll buy into the philosophy of other guys? Or is it just that he can't intimidate them as much?

You'd have to understand how the NFL works to get that Saban's philosophy wouldn't fit with CURRENT NFL players.

  • Saban can't hack it on the grown man level.

It's a different game and his antics don't play there.

If you want to get into a flame war I can happily oblige. However you have me at a rare serious moment so take full advantage.

Everyone knows in CFB that superior talent gives you an advantage. Schemes only get you so far. He knows how to exploit loopholes in the CFB system giving him more advantages.

Honestly, I thought this would help me get back to 4 stars and has backfired so far.

  • I'm pretty sure he could hack it in the nfl if pete carroll can. Two seasons at 9-7 and 6-10 don't say to me ''HA LOL HE CAN'T COACH IN THE PROS LMAO!'' The dolphins sucked ass the year before he got there and he made them somewhat better, but once the Alabama job opened he probably licked his chops and couldn't turn it down.

We will all know shortly after the national championship game though.

If he gets a third natty in four years....

keep in mind that Bama has 8 schollie seniors(9 if you count the walkon that earned one). he's not going anywhere w/ a chance to be the 1st HC in D1 history to 3peat.

Zero chance Saban goes back to a place where he has to compete on a level playing field.

That is something he simply can't hack and he knows it.

Which is the biggest reason why urban ran to the big10. He couldn't handle competing in the sec(where 5 different teams have won bcs titles) Had a 'heart attack' quit came back quit. Spent time with 'family' and quit espn (bspn for the auburn family).
Saban may give it a try. More than likely he won't. Money won't be an issue. He took a pay cut when he left the dolphins. But why should facts be reported in a saban thread. We could pay him any amount of money, that's not an issue.

My friend is a realtor in Cleveland. Shelly has been looking at homes in Cleveland for two days. Shelly being urbies wife.
Another friend in Columbus works for directv and said urbie cancelled his service there.
I love these threads. Make for good humor.
Seriously. Urbie grew up a browns fan. Can spend more time with family. Leave a buckeye legend. Get tebow.
Only serious thing ill say is that the Michael Lombardi nick saban friendship rumor is false.

I'm actually nervous now. Just read on the bottomline that the Browns are firing both Shurmur and the GM by Monday.

Don't see Haslem doing that if he's not going to hand the HC and GM job to Saban. I just think the UT alum wants his ass out of Bama to give them somewhat of a chance to beat us.

Edit: I just hope that if Saban is at least looking to that job, that he would let Mal Moore know so that he could at least put feelers out there and have a deal with someone else as soon as Saban leaves, if that is his thinking at least.

Speculation is Cleveland will make a hire before weeks end....if that's the case you're safe...he's not gonna pass up a natty...unless of course he tells his boss.

  • Could you imagine Saban in the NFL? Calling up Calvin Johnson's mom, telling her he wants Calvin to come play for the Browns? Tells herhe will make sure Mrs. Johnson sees all his games, and won't have to worry about money as long as Calvin is playing for the Browns? He'd get laughed off the phone.
