    I personally don't think he's a HOF'r. Good player and all, BUT if Cris Carter isn't in the HOF then Vince Wilfork shouldn't even be in the discussion.

    Nevermind I looked it up. One super bowl ring and 4 pro bowls. That isn't HOF.

  • Great player, but no. Being a DT in a 3-4 makes it very hard to get into the HOF.

  • Yeah I have no idea how people are calling him a HOFer. Run stuffing nose tackles on a team known for having average D's will not get you in the HOF. Anyone have his numbers?

    Who was the last nose tackle type player that made the HOF? I can't remember one. I'm only 32, and I'm sure I'm missing someone but I honestly can't think of ONE nose tackle that is a HOFer. Shaun Rodgers, Siragusa and Kris Jenkins are the only ones that I can think of that are close (I think all are retired now). Not real sure about Rodgers and Jenkins but I'm pretty sure they are. I guess Kevin Williams for the Vikings and Haloti Ngata are right up there as far as active players. I think Ngata will actually become a HOFer though.

    I know that Wilfork is technically a DT now, but I think all those guys played in both the 3-4 and 4-3 at some point in their careers.

    Yeah I could see Ngata getting in the HOF but Wilfork? I honestly don't see how he could sniff the HOF.. I'm not "hating" on the guy, how could you not like him? I just looked it up.. Only 11 DT's are in the HOF and I haven't heard of almost all of them.

    EDIT: I didn't add the DT-DE in my count of 11.. Only the guys that were straight DT's from that list and the total was 11.

    Another EDIT: They had a few guys that didn't say if they were a DT or DE but John Randle is one DT we've all heard of in the HOF.... Big mean Joe Greene is another.

  • When I looked at the list Randle and Greene were the only two straight DT's that I remember. Well I remember Randle but we have all heard of Greene.

    Nah, he's a great player.. But his particular position is extremely tough to get in the HOF. He's not Joe Greene or John Randle.

  • It is going to be tough for 3-4 nose tackles to get in bc they normally don't have many stats. They just tie up blocker and make a few tackle so I don't think he gets in. But he is definitely one of the 2 or 3 beat nose tackles in his era.

    He's a pure nose so probably not. Randle was 70 pounds smaller so that's dumb to compare end/tackle tweeners to 360 pound nose guards

    A lot of tackles like suh are active enough to make it but no way suh is ever playing nose

    Well I don't think it's dumb considering there's not 1 other Nose Tackle in the HOF to compare... So we went with DT's like I mentioned earlier... And there's only 11

  • Depending on how much longer he can play at a high level, he's got a shot. Nose tackles should be evaluated along the same lines as o-lineman imo, because of the lack of stats.

    I dunno Wilfork is fricking monster. He has dominated for a while now, and even if it was recognized league wide I can tell you as a BIlls fan the guy has killed us just as much as any Patriot over their domination of us.

    If a great DT doesn't make the HOF because they don't put up great stats that is ridiculous.
