and what exactly do you have to brag about? at least when we had good coaches we did something, the best chance you guys had, you couldn't even win an sec title.

in what way possible did you interpret my post as bragging about USC?

  • I hated Urban in 2006. Urban was head man of the enemy that bulldozed my team.

I love Urban in 2012. Urban IS the head man of the Scarlet & Gray.

I'm sure this is the way it is for most Buckeye fans, and I find it humorous that the scUM try to shove this in our face when they would be the same way. Hell, any diehard fan would be.

    Again,

You and many others in this thread are missing my point.

Im not surprised that UF fans supported Meyer while he was at UF...Not sure why you guys can't get that through your heads.

Im surprised that UF fans are acting like the things Meyer is doing now are such a surprise...

Like..."WTF? Did you guys know Meyer was Lying to Diggs? I can't believe he'd do that!"

Meanwhile...everyone else has known this for...uh...4 or 5 years now?

    And about Elam:

He was a Gator, but towards the end he realize he had a better opportunity at FSU and he was only into UF because he wanted to play for Urban, and then Urban lied his face off about coming back and staying to coach him then quit within a year of telling Elam he'd be there to coach him.

If Elam knew Meyer wasn't going to be at UF he would have gone to FSU.

urban is a dickhead and i think a lot of us realized the first time he "resigned." it was clear he was coming back to let his assistants keep their jobs and once the season started you could just tell he didn't care anymore.

it's not that we are just now realizing that he's dirty, it's that it doesn't matter when he's your coach. he kept us out of the ncaa doghouse, and won some big recruiting wars. how it got done matters not to anyone in orange and blue, as long as probation is not an outcome.

urban was a good coach, but he was not a good gator. the way he lied about his health and family, took an espn job immediately, proved to us all the guy was full of shit. not only did he lie to his recruits, he lied to us.

doesn't matter anymore though. he's osu's nightmare now.

  • I'm a Buckeye fan and understand both points, but let's be honest here.

Rate the best college football coaches in the game right now. If Urban isn't in your top 5, I'd like an explanation. If you are an OSU fan, how could you not root for your coach? And even if he kicked OSU's ass in the NC game and we hated him before, he chose OSU and really wants to win in Columbus now. To act like it's unnatural or hypocritical for OSU fans to root hard for him and annoint him as the next best thing after a year of hell is quite the ridiculous comment. Hell - Michigan fans have already annointed Hoke because he won a BCS game, and I wouldn't expect any different. Fanbases are going to pull for your coach, and I'd say 99% of fanbases (at least outside the SEC) would die to have Urban leading their team - his resume speaks for itself. Whether that brings victories to OSU, it's still TBD. My personal thoughts are it will be a lot easier for him to win here with the conference slowly becoming a 2-3 team race than it would be in the SEC.

  • I for one have never hated Meyer or thought badly of him. I have always followed his tenure as a headcoach since BGSU, to now coaching the team I love.

For me to hate a coach for doing his job is just rediculous and ignorant, even if he did wax tOSU. The guy got paid to do that and he did, maybe Tress should have prepared better and got the players ready for the game!

As far as the recruiting stuff, cry me a river. If he is not violating ncaa rules then who cares, it is what it is. I am not going to worry about some players who are butthurt because Urban didnt do everything he apparently said or "promised".

How many of the coaches that have won NCs do you honestly believe played fair on the recruiting trail?? If you want to win in the ncaa you have to do as much as you can within the rules that you can. Boohoo a player changed his mind before he signed the letter of intent, pretty sure it is fair game. If I were a coach on the college level and knew I had a shot at getting an elite prospect away from scUM I would say everything and anything to do it that was within the rules. Even if that means I tell the kid I had a vision from GOD telling me I had to coach you!

I for one am glad that Urban is at tOSU, and hopes he sticks it out and doesnt quit. Until then I am nobody to talk trash about somebody I do not know personaly or any other coach.
