I eat Paleo. I have studied the Paleo diet for awhile now. It has changed my life. I was amazed at what foods are actually killing you. I recommend reading the book "The Paleo Solution" by Robb Wolf. It is a brilliant book with a lot of facts and how to. You can also check out his site at www.robbwolf.com. I recommend to anyone who cares about their health to check it out. I have my whole family on this "way of life".

Gluten, the protein found in wheat, is a lethal poison. Wheat it and of itself is a poison. They cook the wheat, in which they try to kill the poison's in it, but they don't and can't get it all out. Esentially what it does is cause inflammation in your body. Which is not good. You know what poison ivy does to your skin when you contact it, the rash breakout and such, that is what wheat does to the inside of your body. The nutrients found in wheat are not high enough to justify putting the anti-nutrients that are found in wheat into your body. Veggies have all the same nutrients wheat has, plus some, without all the bad. So why not just eat veggies to get them?

Cutting pasta out cold turkey wont be an issue. In fact, I hate pasta, but I eat it because its filling for low amount of cals and its cheap.
My big thing is that I like a routine. I like to eat the same stuff on a daily basis. And I dont think I could ever cut chicken out of my diet. Love grilled chicken breasts.

I also think it's pretty silly when someone is asking for diet/eating advice, and someone else comes and tells them to completely stop doing something they admitted they do five times a week.
For someone who constantly eats pasta, it's gonna be pretty hard to "as a matter of fact, stay away from grains completely." Going cold turkey, with anything (be it alcohol, nicotine or food) has a pretty bad success rate.
IMO, the OP should transition to whole wheat pasta a couple times a week, gradually adding fresh veggies and more protein it, while using less and less pasta each time. Then only the whole wheat pasta with a higher ratio of protein and veggies to pasta. And eliminate the tomato sauce. This is what I like to do: saute a variety of veggies in some olive oil in a skillet, then add them to a little whole-wheat spaghetti. Top with a little low-sodium soy sauce. Delicious and good for you,

I ate pasta (whole wheat) 5 times a week. Decided all that gluten wasn't helping me and stopped cold turkey. Wasn't hard at all, replaced it with natural rice which is gluten free.
This isn't to say that I am gluten free, still eat occasional grains in bread, but have tried my best to cut out all carbs. As already mentioned a few times, carbs are not good for you and grains are not really all that good for you either.
Remember the old food pyramids out there that told you to eat 10 servings of grains a day? Those were produced by bread and dairy companies. Eat more veggies and lean meats, less grains.

Your on the right track. The government doesn't care about our health. They care about money. Doctors don't really care about our health, they care about pushing those prescriptions and office visits. The new food plate the Obabma adminstration put out is a joke too. If you want to be healthy, don't listen to the government. They will make you unhealthy in a hurry.
