As far as does what we "see" actually exist? Is this all some huge game played by some god with a cruel sense of humor? Philosophy has tried to come to an answer for centuries, but to no avail. It is simply impossible to "know" what around you exists. "I think therefore I am" is actually part of the start of one of these attempts to prove what exists around us/in us.
