Is there anything to Lil' Schottenheimer past what meets the eye

Everyone knows the Jets offense stunk. Is that because Schottenheimer stinks, Sanchez stinks, Ryan handcuffed him, a little of all, none of that?
Basically do people think Schottenheimer will EVER be a good OC or was it just time to move on?

Would be a good fit at Bama, IMO. He's a run first play caller which will translate well at Bama. The Jets don't necessarily have a plethera of offensive players. Not sure if he was involved in the drafting of Mark Sanchez, but whoever was should be fired.

If you listen to Greg McElroy, there are a lot of bad/selfish attitudes in the locker room, which would prevent success no matter the HC/OC.
Mostly, one can't compare success in college to success in the NFL and vice-versa. The level of control, attitudes of players, the entire operation, and any number of other variable factors are different from one level to the next.
For example, Saban = good college coach and an average to poor NFL coach; Weiss = good NFL OC and an average college OC/HC.
There are certainly success stories of coaches going up to the Pros or coming back to college from the Pros, but I

It's usually a little bit of both. There were times Schottenheimer put Sanchez in a position to succeed. Then there were times he didn't. Hard to say who is to blame with these kinds of things.
