I haven't completely decided yet. I am for what he is planning to do for the immigration process in this country for one thing. I would like to see that have a chance to get pushed through. Other than that I am still undecided for the most part. I do need to learn a little more on Romney, but from what I have learned, they are almost the same candidate honestly. I probably would have voted for just about every candidate since Dukakis over either one of them.
The major news networks have completely ruined politics in this country. We had a better chance for better candidates before we had to learn every little skeleton in their closets. That digging threw Guliani out of the race, when he probably would have been a great President, IMO. Even as a Decmocrat, I would have voted for him. I try to vote Republican, as I am not thrilled on what the Democratic Party completely stands for anymore, but I am not voting for someone that wants to serve as the world's moral compass either.

Nobody said it excuses anything. I was being as extreme/ridiculous as you were. The fact that we are even discussing this shows how ignorant we used to be as a society. But as far as I'm concerned, I don't owe any black person a thing... Or any woman, Indian American, etc. I don't want to live my life trying to makeup for someone elses ignorance. Not my problem.

So let me understand, you don't think this COUNTRY owes the African American community anything, or just you specifically? And if it's you specifically, how do you feel about your tax dollars going towards helping out the African American community? The same question can be asked of Woman in America.

I don't mind with some of the scholarship opportunities and so forth... Their education system (segregated schools) was inferior to white peoples all the way up into the late 60's. I do take issue with some of the diversity stuff like hiring a less qualified person just bc of race.

I think women get overlooked with this... They were less educated, weren't allowed to work outside of the home, not promoted accordingly when they did work, couldn't vote / voice their opinions, etc.... Yet women's rights is still a laughable topic with most people.

In the interest of full disclosure, the majority of slaves - though some tribe leaders were complicit - were taken by Spanish, Portuguese, and The British, and brought to the new world, then sold into slavery. The Tribal leaders from Africa to the Europeans to the Americans are all equally responsible. If we don't pay the premium there is no trade. Obama trying to galvanize the black vote is no more racist than Romney trying to pander to his base (white).
