    Mine would be:

    1. Texas
    2. LSU
    3. Ohio State
    4. Florida State
    5. Alabama
    6. Oklahoma
    7. Georgia
    8. Michigan
    9. Notre Dame
    10. USC

Note: I probably would have had Penn State on that list before the recent scandal but as a college coach, I don't see how that could be a top 10 destination right now with all the baggage that you would be inheriting.

Given recent history I would say Florida over Florida State. That would be the only one I would change.buckeyes

Is your reasoning behind Alabama being at 5 because of there being 2 in state schools and also having to go out of state to recruit talent? If so, wouldn't Georgia be ahead based on the talent in state? Just curious.

I personally wouldn't put any of those schools in any paticular order. If the job is open at any of them and they can get a good coach or one is availiable most coaches would jump on any of those jobs.Resume boosters for assistants.

Think you have FSU too high and no UF.
Just curious, what makes you feel FSU at #4?

Yeah, UF was tough to keep off. I could easily throw them in there anywhere in the 5-10 range and feel ok about it.

As for FSU: football is the only game in town, great recruiting region with the entire state of Florida and lots of South Georgia pipelines. They have the ability to dominate the ACC, facilities and support system are all there. Even if #4 is high, it's hard for me to have them anywhere below 6 or 7.

As far as just straight-up potential (meaning recruiting, support, money, fan base, tradition, etc.) goes, here you go...This list is a little different than the one I put out last summer.

    1- Texas
    2- Florida
    3- LSU
    4- Ohio State
    5- USC
    6- Georgia
    7- Notre Dame
    8- Florida State
    9- Alabama
    10- Texas A&M

Penn State would be top five, but it's a much tougher gig given the recent issues there.

Yeah, Georgia could easily be higher. I think Richt has underachieved a little bit there. I don't see any reason why that program shouldn't be a national title contender every year. One thing about Georgia though is that their facilities aren't as good as some others in the SEC. Even their recent renovation to the Butts-Meher (sp?) doesn't put UGA on par with the Alabama's and LSU's of the conference. They redid an indoor facility and made it like a 35-yard facility.

Nitpicking again but...no way UF is above ND and Bama based on your listed criteria IMO.
Think you got FSU about right, I'd put UF about 5-6. Bam and ND up at the top.

I think Oregon is a better job than ND. Best facilities in the nation and are right above a top 3 state for recruiting. The school is as behind supporting their athletics as any school in the country. They are even making a (IIRC) multimillion dollar "recruiting" building.

In fact I don't see anyone mentioning Oregon. :(

Can't take any value in this without Michigan on the list.

Recruiting - almost always in top 15. Support - Guess it depends on the coach. RR didn't get much. Money - top 10 in football income. Fan base - Top 5 in fan base. Tradition - the list is endless (most wins, most Big10 titles, etc)

This is spot on when it comes to UGA imo. We have no doubt underachieved recently. McGarity will have the facilities issue fixed before he is gone. What happened to good ole Damon Evans may be the best thing to happen to UGA sports since Herschel Walker stepped 'tween the hedges for the first time.
