  • I didn't hear it so I don't know if it was said as a matter of fact or opinion, but if it was opinion it is a very common opinion. Also, ND fans are so used to being treated with kid gloves when something happens the world is going to end. I would love to see the reaction of the sports world if a coach contributed to the death of a staff member at a different school.

What other comments ? What questions did he refuse to answer?

Supposedly he claimed ND is covering this up and that they have a history of covering things up in the past.

  • Even if Te'o was duped, it's been shown that he lied. He talked about his gf dying from cancer two days after he supposedly found out about the hoax. He would have lied to his parents about the relationship. He lied about saying she's the most beautiful girl he's ever seen/met. Hard to feel sorry for him in all of this.

  • Boooooooo why does JC have to apologize? Because he spoke the truth?

Those domers will look so dumb when it comes out teo had a hand in this and I bet they wont be apologizing then.

  • Here is JC's statement. I thought it was good.

    OK guys...

After a little retrospection, I was wrong to take such a hard line approach on the airwaves and here about this.

I didn't have all the facts on the situation and still don't. I am looking forward just like all of you to seeing what ultimately happens. I took a very absolute stance on the subject and I was wrong.

If I were overly-passionate about it, it had more to do with my being fed up with spin and half-truths that exist in our country and the Teo story was something we could all rally around. The fact that part of that story of triumph is false or that there would even be a hoax like that does indeed make me angry, but not at any institution or player, more just a general sense of being fed up with where we are at right now as a society. I was asked my opinion and went off on a tangent.

And while I was making those statements, I sort of became what I despise. It happens and I am sorry.

I apologize for offending many of you, who I know are graduates of Notre Dame, work at Notre Dame, have kids that go to Notre Dame or are just passionate about the institution and its athletic programs. I can assure you I have nothing but the highest respect for Notre Dame, which is probably why I said what I said to begin with.

So I am dropping the subject and like the rest of you will watch it unfold. Again, I apologize.

  • Anyone who believes Teo was duped should write me a $1,000,000 check today, the level of stupidity would be about the same.

  • Jack swarbrick doesn't have all the facts yet domers claim everything he says is truth and teo was duped

JC doesn't have all the facts so everything he says is completely false and he is part of an SEC conspiracy to trash Notre dame

    Got it

He talked about Te'o and ND "covering this up" (even in the best scenario, this is true) and then went on to talk about how some SEC teams would have beat them (also true).

I did not see anyone on the ND board mention the SEC so I doubt it had anything to do with that. I know "a history of covering up" was a big deal and also that "ND was in on it". Not sure if it was stated or implied. How did ND cover this up? They hired a firm to investigate. Not sure how anyone can claim at this point that they covered anything up.

Not when you have paying customers threatening to leave over an interview.

I'll try to listen to it later today and see what all the hubbub is all about.

They should never have let Te'o go out and do interviews before the bowl game. Of course his gf would come up in those interviews and then what? Te'o would have to lie. ND should have limited the media's access to him.

    getmyjive11

  • Why would JC need to apologize for what everyone else has been saying? Everyone thinks was JC said is accurate other than Domers

He didn't lie in the interviews around the bowl game. He definitely deflected when asked about her and at one point claimed something to the effect of "that has all been talked about already". If they would not have let him be interviewed then they would have had to answer why...that would have looked like more of a cover up.

That's pathetic. Analyst have opinions about things. The reason I liked this board when I first got here was the interaction we had with staff. Slowly that is going away due to things like this IMO. They still do a great job at interacting but slowly that will probably go ahead due to things like this. Having to be extra careful you don't say anything that will hurt anyone's feelings. Make sure you don't have an opinion on one of the biggest college sports stories of the year.

  • Folks your all missing the point .., JC can say whatever however he wants but if you are going to say things about a very passionate fanbase in the manner in which he did you better not have a monetary stake if you offend people... Fact is he was out of line with not only what he said but more so how he said it! I don't believe the whole duped thing and I'm completely embarrassed once again about things that transpired at ND but I love my university the way many of you love your teams and if you think I'm going to pay someone to rub my face in the dirt when I already feel completely embarrassed and blindsided your wrong!! If and when you hear or read the transcript you tell me if it was your University/College he was talking about if you wouldn't feel a bit pissed especially since ND subscription for his company is one of the largest in the country... Don't call someone's baby ugly if that someone helps you pay your mortgage !!
