Here is JC's statement. I thought it was good.
OK guys...
After a little retrospection, I was wrong to take such a hard line approach on the airwaves and here about this.
I didn't have all the facts on the situation and still don't. I am looking forward just like all of you to seeing what ultimately happens. I took a very absolute stance on the subject and I was wrong.
If I were overly-passionate about it, it had more to do with my being fed up with spin and half-truths that exist in our country and the Teo story was something we could all rally around. The fact that part of that story of triumph is false or that there would even be a hoax like that does indeed make me angry, but not at any institution or player, more just a general sense of being fed up with where we are at right now as a society. I was asked my opinion and went off on a tangent.
And while I was making those statements, I sort of became what I despise. It happens and I am sorry.
I apologize for offending many of you, who I know are graduates of Notre Dame, work at Notre Dame, have kids that go to Notre Dame or are just passionate about the institution and its athletic programs. I can assure you I have nothing but the highest respect for Notre Dame, which is probably why I said what I said to begin with.
So I am dropping the subject and like the rest of you will watch it unfold. Again, I apologize.

I did not see anyone on the ND board mention the SEC so I doubt it had anything to do with that. I know "a history of covering up" was a big deal. Not sure if it was stated or implied. How did ND cover this up? They hired a firm to investigate. Not sure how anyone can claim at this point that they covered anything up.
