Jags Worst Draft Ever?

  • Justin Blackmon was a great pick but after that it's pretty obvious they were going out of their way to make bad picks.

    Yeah I know, but he was the best lineman on that team and actually made plays. Just because he played for a svitty defense does not mean he will not be a good player.

    Gabbert may prove me wrong but I'm not near as high on him as some others are. I know that they had to get a qb in last years draft but I don't see him being very successful. Again maybe he proves me wrong and I will eat crow if he does.

    I would still have more faith in him than the Vikings fans should have in Ponder. I couldn't believe the Vikings went after Ponder. I said that Dalton would be better than both of them before last years draft and I've certainly been spot on with that one.

    I think.. If Branch could have had a year under new and.current Clemson DC Veneables.. He would have come out even better IMO.. I really like Veneables..

    Thoughts on CBV anyone.. How does everyone think he fares at Clemson?

    Not sure. Oklahoma consistently had one of the best defenses in the country when Stoops first got there and it just seems to get worse and worse every year now.

    Yeah.. If you listen to other BIG 12 coaches talk about Veneables.. They all basically say the same thing, that was the toughest in the conference to prepare for. They say he has no real tendencies.

  • I love my Jags, but this has to rank in the top-3 dumbest moves ever by the organization.

    Anger was the top ranked punter, but Shawn Powell had a higher punting avg. (47.0) and is also great at pinning the ball deep. He's still available.

    Dumbest moves ever by Jax:

    - Firing Tom Coughlin.
    - Drafting Anger.

    Selecting Matt Jones over Aaron Rodgers.

    Got caught up like so many GM's do with combine results. Matt Jones ran that 4.39 40 and was 6'4" or 6'5" and they saw the dreaded word in the NFL draft, POTENTIAL. They figured that they could teach him the position with that athletic ability. I knew that Aaron Rodgers should have been the top pick in that draft and the 49'rs were making a mistake. To be able to have gotten him at 21 was absurd. Especially to pass him for a qb to WR project.

    I don't have a problem picking projects in the later rounds. but you're asking for trouble by doing it in the 1st round. Especially when your QB couldn't get your project the ball, anyway.

    Stats that were more important- Senior year:

    Aaron Rodgers- 209/316 2566 yds. 24 tds. 8 ints. Completed 23 consecutive passes in one game.
    Matt Jones - 0 receptions!

    No offense, but did you watch any Panthers or Bengals gms?

    The defenses were night and day, lol. The Bengals were ranked in the top 10. The Panthers ranked in the bottom 5.
