  • What qualifies as a "good RB", or a "joke of a RB"? Depending on classifications I might jump in joke category. He sure as hell won't live up to his recruiting hype as a RB.

Im thinking he said good, and not great, for a reason.

Its a no brainer he will be a good rb, the only fuss was that people said he would be a great lb.

By his jr season, he should be more than efficient. The kid can also catch the rock out of thr backfield too so as long as he can block, he'll ok.

  • Okay I think he will be a great RB then, that is fair and makes it more interesting

I have certainly seen enough behind no OL to know that the kid can play RB

  • If he is top 3 or 4 in the ACC in Rushing, then he is good. If he can have over 1200 yds rushing with 12+TDs then good. If he can actually make an NFL roster as a RB, then good.

I don't see any of these taking place. My guess is he gets in trouble, quits or transfers before its all said and done.

We will see. I hope he proves me wrong. Just not too much discipline down in Tallahassee!

James was ranked as the 11th best player in his class, and 2nd best RB in the class (rivals). Can I troll you if I can find 2 better RB's and 12 better players?

Never saw you NoVa in Gregg Williams audio tape thread, so I'm wondering if you duck out when getting trolled.

Ugh nice try but Rivals ranked him as a ATH brah, not a RB

Can you troll me if you find 2 better RB's ? no, cause that doesn't even make sense

  • With only 1 week of spring practice, JWJ exceed expectations in the spring game. showed great hands out of the backfield, no negative yards/always falling forward, delivering the blow to the 1st defender, good athleticism in the open field, most importantly: knows and executed his assignments. FSU's O will be a multi-headed monster this year: loaded WR unit, Nick O'Leary at H-back, full RB unit (Pryor, Thompson Freeman, Wilder, Pender).

  • I'd say he'll be a good to great running back. I kind of like that he has a chip on his shoulder from so many places he couldn't be a running back.

Maybe something like 2,500 yards for a career or so.

He needs to get a little lower and run with a wider base, but I think he definitely has potential and should it in nicely to what FSU likes to do.

Should platoon for a couple of years with Freeman and I see both of them being 700-1000 yards backs over the next 2 or 3 years. Great situation for both of them. They aren't the same backs, Mark and Trent were at Bama, but they will benefit from the same system in which they will never get worn down. The have contrasting styles and should compliment each other nicely.

I think both of them will end up being 2nd round draft picks at the end of their careers.

Lulz. You said he wasn't ranked as an RB, his player page says RB. Them changing it doesn't change the fact he is 11th ranked player.

He was ranked as an athlete just like Gregg Williams wasn't going for torn ACL's amirite?

  • Here is a quote from an article proving it, this was pre-NSD

St. Augustine (Fla.) Pedro Menendez linebacker Tony Steward (uncommitted) dropped from the No. 2 slot down to No. 7 and Tampa (Fla.) Plant athlete James Wilder Jr. (FSU commitment) dropped from No. 3 down to No. 9 for different reasons. Meanwhile, Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips defensive back Hasean Clinton-Dix (Alabama commitment) moved from No. 10 to No. 6 and took over the No. 1 slot in the state of Florida. Nee explains.

    Clearly says athlete James Wilder

And post-NSD (which is all that matters) he was ranked as an RB. Rankings/ positions change all the time.

He won't live up to 11th best player in the class. So by that measure, he will be a joke. May well be a very solid RB.

  • Is Trickett the o-line coach his entire career at FSU?

Either way I think he is a solid RB but never great.

    Aussie

  • In all seriousness FSU won't have a productive RB till they get a offensive line.

So as of today, I say no. Solid at best and that's cause he is a great athlete.

    lmao

So all that matter is what one site ranks him after NSD ? only a canadian would argue such a thing

Doesn't change the fact that would I said was accurate, Rivals moved him to RB when he signed with FSU.... cause they knew that is where he was gonna play

If he can average 3.2 behind a make shift OL against a star studded defense I like the odds of what he will do against our pathetic schedule

We will see, Wilder is the best looking RB we got.... by far imo

Am I supposed to make my pick assuming Trickett will be the OL coach his whole time at FSu? If so, that's gonna drastically change my answer.

    Werd

I just think as long as Trickett is there, you guys are going to have a hard time getting elite production out of the RB position.

Behind a good OL, Wilder would be a beast iyam.
