This thread is ridiculous. How are you supposed to compare the two coaches? Championships? Win-Loss record? Or is it just an opinion because you know exactly how much coaching knowledge JH has compared to NS?

Way too many variables. Would Saban have any rings if he was at Stanford? Would Harbaugh have a ring if he was at Bama instead of Stanford? It is an interesting debate but way too many variables for any logical conclusion. Bottom line is they are both great coaches and 100+ colleges would be lucky to have either one.

Easy.
Harbaugh is a QB guru. Saban can coach the fvck out of a defense. They can both recruit. Players love Harbaugh. Players fear Saban. Harbaugh has been a monster every place he has coached, including the NFL. Saban has not been a monster everywhere he has coached but he has the rings. Harbaugh played the game. Saban did not. Harbaugh is 6'3. Saban is 5'6.
Advantage Harbaugh.

He had the best player to fit his system (Luck), an elite offensive line to block in his system, 2 NFL caliber rbs in his system, amongst other things.
He didn't win 1. Not saying he isn't great, but he wasn't gonna get a better player than Luck at any other program.

He recruited talent. But he took over a 1 win team and turned them into a national title contender in a very short time. Saban would not have been able to do the same (was not nearly as successful at Michigan St as a data point). Then obviously Harbaugh's success at the highest level, where Saban was just a run of the mill guy in the NFL. Saban is obviously a great fit at Bama, but Harbaugh is without a doubt the better football coach. Harbaugh is the best football coach on the planet.
