    I have a feeling Oregon will get one if Chip stay's around. See to me, what Chip has done at Oregon is way more impressive than anything Harbaugh did at Stanford.

    You can look at it several ways if you're just trying to make an argument.

    SF was in shambles before he took over. But hells yes they had the talent. Luck wasn't (the most NFL ready) his entire career at Stanford. Harbaugh deserves some credit for getting him there. But yeah he would have been great regardless. Harbaugh also had to work with zero WRs, CB's that look like they're running through wet cement - actually, a serious lack of speed across the board.

    Right now I don't think an obvious argument can really be made either way. It's a wash. An unanswerable question. But if Harbaugh wins the SB it's a different discussion.

    Agreed, but the talent he's working with > than Harbaugh's. And why I think Chip would make a great NFL coach is why I'm probably a little more biased towards Harbaugh. Because Chip can coach QBs. He's taken absolute garbage and made winners out of them. Masoli? Thomas? Awful. Even Dennis Dixon sucked before Kelly arrived.

    Yep, he ran through the PAC without quality players, got it.

    Rankings don't matter, as much, when you recruit the perfect players for your system.

    nobody is hating at all. Saban is an outstanding coach, just not as good as Harbaugh.

    Just comparing football coaches. Saban is great at Bama, was very good at LSU, but not so much at Michigan St. Harbaugh took a Stanford team that was 1-11 and turned them into a national power.

    Do you think that Harbaugh could have taken a 1-11 team in the SEC and had the same results? Also, would Saban's NFL experience been different if he had taken over the 49ers rather than the Dolphins?

    Hell yes. SEC teams have easier schedules on average to begin with so why not? 49'ers were a mess before Harbaugh took over. Smith was considered a big bust prior to Harbaugh's arrival.

    Harbaugh can take over pretty much any bcs conference team right now, and turn them into a national title contender within 3 years IMO.

    If I had the choice of either Harbaugh or Saban to take over USC for say 5 years, I would absolutely take Harbaugh, though would also love to have Saban of course.

    No need to think about it, I watched a few of them. If ND could have any coach they wanted Harbaugh is at the top of my list.

    Please explain how the SEC teams have easier schedules on average??....in any given year there are 3-5 SEC teams ranked in the top 10....I just couldn't see him taking over a team like Kentucky or Vandy and making them a national contender. Don't get me wrong, he's a great coach and would be a nice fit for Bama after Saban decides to give it up, but the best are determined by national championships or Super Bowls, not by PAC 10 championships and a couple of playoff wins. Notre Dame fans had much of the same thoughts about our schedule compared to theirs, and now they realize just how different the level is. In Harbaughs 3rd year at Stanford he went 8-5. In his 4th year, he got beat by an Oregon team that lost to an SEC team in the Championship game. So he didn't even make Stanford a championship contender in his first 3 years. Bama was in pretty bad shape when Saban took over, and he won a NC in his 3rd year. He also took over an LSU team that went 3-8 (1-7 in the conference) the season before and won a NC in his 3rd year. LSU was much like the Stanford of the SEC at the time he got there.
