Joel Osteen.....

  • does not in any way, shape form or fashion represent Christianity. Why Foxnews has him on as a representative of the faith is so beyond my mind it hurts.

The dude is not a minister of the gospel. He's a life coach or inspirational speaker that uses Christ to fool people into tithing to his "ministry".

    Clown show.

  • Moving on to another person who is not actually a Christian and yet somehow bares the name and slanders the faith.

This guy is as lost as a baseball in tall grass.

  • Cool thread.

I know I'm being trolled but Joel Osteen is good in front of a camera. That's why he's on TV as opposed to maybe a priest or a religious scholar.

You've posted about 50 times about Christianity in the last week alone.

Some care. Posting in a thread to say you don't care is in the Toolish Message Board Actions hall of fame.

He also preaches one of the most humanistic "gospels" in the world. His entire set up is geared into making people feel good and wanting to come back....and donate money.

No one cares about Joel Olsteen. The more people ignore, the better.

With all due respect, how do you know what is in either of their hearts? You don't.

That's why I can't stand religion. Many people who claim Christianity are terribly quick to pass judgment on others. I'm pretty sure the Bible says not to do that.

Holy crap. You don't anything about the Bible or Joel Osteen then. He is the very embodiment of the false teacher the Bible talks about. What's in his heart? It's explicit.

The verse you quoted is a classically misunderstood verse by non-believers wanting some Christian to leave them alone.

  • anybody see the new movie machine gun preacher - based on a true story and it was actually a pretty good movie ; really like Gerard Butler and Michelle Monaghan who are the main characters in the show

He has led hundreds of thousands astray with one of the most humanistic messages alive in the church today. Paul calls those who do so accursed. All I can go on.

OK. Tell me please. What makes someone a Christian?

And please list your credentials as a theologian (not that it matters, none of them can agree on anything anyway).

Saved by God. Led by the Holy Spirit. Adherer and reader of the Bible. This leads to an active life style of putting off the old man and putting on the new man.

As if you are really interested.

Your first mistake is trying to rationalize anything Fox does. I find it hilariously ironic that it's such a conservative network, and everything they do as far as coverage, technology & quality is at least 10 years behind all of the other major networks.

As for Osteen, I couldn't agree more.

  • I wouldn't say he's not a Christian. I have no idea if he believes Jesus was the son of God, lived a sinless life, was crucified and resurrected. I can't make that call. Some would argue you can see the fruit he produces, which is fine. I will argue to the death however, that he does NOT preach the Bible. Claiming that God doesn't want us to suffer or go through hard times is exactly the opposite of what Christ taught his followers. He said "WHEN men persecute you for my name's sake." Not IF. This WILL happen. The guy's an incredible communicator and maybe a good guy, maybe not. Maybe a Christian, maybe not. He is not an accurate teacher of the Bible.

Well you are probably just a liberal then. Fox embodies the "it is what it is" saying in that they are definitely right wing and go too far every now and then. I feel like their outliers are no more frequent or extreme compared to the liberal media though.

Don't get the tech comments. It's not like their website looks skeletal or anything.

Amen. Only step further I take is applying Galations 1:8-9 to him. It is Biblically sound to do so.
