if you cant earn your way into heaven by works of any kind but only by Grace then it would make sense that there are no sins/works that you commit that would send you to hell ; it is only through the Grace of God that we are saved by believing that Jesus is the Son of God , died for our sins and was resurrected .

Exactly, there is only one way. I know people do not like to hear that doing good all their lives will not get them in, but its the truth. And no one just goes in the ground, there is a fire that can't be quenched for people who do not admit, believe and confess.

I would need to think on it a while, but I'm pretty sure I agree with the basic premise of your statement.

It is really hard to explain, I am not the best at it, but I tried to do the best I could.

dont watch him really at all but find it hard to believe that any knowledgeable pastor would claim that anyone much less a Christian would not experience tough times throughout their lifetime

Dude, turn him on.....no actually I did not say that.....but IF YOU WERE to end up watching him somehow you would likely be appalled within 15 minutes. I always thought he got a bad rap and then I listened to ONE sermon of his and almost threw my remote at my tv.

I figured he'd have to go at least 2-3 sermons to say something ridiculous but it's about every 20th sentence (to vaguely guess) between heretical statements.

People often get mad because that's all they hear is "Jesus is the only way". To hear a really good exposition on exactly how Christ was purposed from before time to set the captives free and how it played out over history and how it came to fruition is one of the most incredible things anyone can ever hear: believer or not.

If the Bible was considered just a book it would be so far and away the best book ever written it would bring about wonderings as to whether it was divinely inspired.

Indeed, we all deserve an eternity in hell. However, our loving God sent his son to earth to save all of us from damnation if we but do the three previous things. Truly a divine story of love.

Absolutely nothing wrong with your explination. I just try to take a little while to process stuff sometimes. All religous opinions aside, I believe with every fiber of my being that this joker (Osteen) is blinking some kind of message to people in Morse Code. Just watch him. It's terrifying.

With all due respect, how do you know what is in either of their hearts? You don't.

That's why I can't stand religion. Many people who claim Christianity are terribly quick to pass judgment on others. I'm pretty sure the Bible says not to do that.

With all due respect to you as well this sounds like an awfully judgmental post to me. But, you're right, the Bible is more concerned about grace than it is about judgment. And, true Christianity isn't a religion, it's a relationship and a faith.

does not in any way, shape form or fashion represent Christianity. Why Foxnews has him on as a representative of the faith is so beyond my mind it hurts.

The dude is not a minister of the gospel. He's a life coach or inspirational speaker that uses Christ to fool people into tithing to his "ministry".

    Clown show.

He's not a Biblical preacher. He has no ability to articulate the faith upon questioning in interviews. I don't know his heart but, IMHO, he has no business behind a pulpit.

Not necessarily ....For the time will come when they will not "endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;" (2 Timothy 4:3 NKJV)

Fsufsu is dead on in his assessment is JO doctrine and theology. It is humanistic and does not line up with the teachings and doctrine of Christ.

Eh, I dunno if I agree with that. Paul (I think) said the time will come when men will not endure sound doctrine, but will demand instead to "have their ears tickled." He's doing something to get them to come to church alright, but it has more to do with his easy gospel than anything else. It's man-focused. How can YOU feel better, how can YOU overcome adversity, how can YOU have YOUR best life now etc

Brother. Turn your brain on. He's doing "Something right" is what this thread is all about. He preaches a "God is your buddy and wants you to prosper" message and people flock to hear it. His every teaching mocks God and magnifies man. Of course people want to hear it.

I really don't get how you aren't connecting the dots. His ministry is HUGE because it plays to the broken nature of man.

I dunno about all that, but my dad was a big fan of HIS dad's, who was actually an incredible preacher. It's astounding to see the differences. Guys like Osteen, Creflo Dollar, Benny Hinn are kind of a sore spot with me. I may not show them as much grace as I should at times. I try to be civil on the board but I've ripped them much harder in verbal conversations, right or not.

No you don't. You're just another person who has heard the one verse people use to try and get folks off their backs. Judging someone by their fruits in terms of whether you should trust them, spend time around them, etc is entirely Biblical. The Word says to not judge because in breaking one pen stroke of the law we have all broken the entire law so how can you judge someone SALVIFICALLY. God judges salvifically.

I am instructed to study the fruit of a man and determine whether he is those things I said above. Osteen's fruit is rotten.

I guess that depends on what you're definition of "passing judgement" is. I try really hard not to say whether I think somebody is a believer or not. That's between them and God. But, Jesus himself did say a fair amount about recognizing "wolves among sheep" and how "bad trees cannot bear good fruit, nor can good trees bear bad fruit" and also "by their fruit you will know them." Do you know somebody's heart? Nope, but I can see the fruit their putting out, which is a reflection of that according to Christ. So again, not being sarcastic at all, but it really does depend on how you define "passing judgement." I will say there is a lot of it that goes on that shouldn't in some circles.

He knows because Osteen has told us what is in his heart......Luk_6:45 " A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth the good. And an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth the evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks."

Pro_23:7 " for as he thinks in his heart, so is he;"
