Johnny Football #2 on ESPN's Hiesman Watch

    huh

He has equal or better stats and probably played 10 less quarters.

Better stats. Mariota has 4 games with a better QBR than Johnny's best game.

Except Manziel when he plays crap teams still hasn't done as well as Mariota.

When Mariota played Cal (an FBC team in a BCS conference with an NFL DC with 4 and 5* athletes) he had a better QBR than when Manziel played South Carolina State (an FCS team) or any team for that matter.

You can believe anything you want. The fact that you are using Mariota's performance against Cal to make your argument proves my point ... you haven't played anyone with a decent defense. Cal? Really? They have the 87th ranked defense and the 86th ranked scoring defense. Does anyone not have a good game against Cal? Mariota is a very good QB and he's in the conversation. But from a resume standpoint, Klein and Manziel both have accomplished more.

Cuz he runs more. Mariota is out of the game in the 2nd half of most their games. Oregon runs the ball 60% of the time and it isn't Mariota running it.

Yard per Play runshing and Passing Mariota is superior.

Less INTs with the same TDs. Mariota has the same amount of TDs while throwing and running less. He is far and away more efficient.

Manziel has less passing yards than WSU does that mean WSU>TAM passing?

    No. It's called using perspective.

He has roughly 80 less pass attempts than Manziel. And he STILL has more td's AND less picks. He has probably only played in the second half 5 times all year. He has a higher completion percentage, and is about 25 QB's ahead in qb rating. Sitting at #1 to manziels 27. He is averaging more yards per attempt and has been sacked 9 less times while Manziel has this great line you are crowing about.

Yeah stats sure point to Manziel lol

You don't need to be rude I'm a realist. Oregon doesn't have a ton of elite talent and I accept that. I said at the beginning of the year Mariota was prolly 4th in the Pac-12 in QBs. However as he has shown he is better than that.

I'm not some huge homer that tries to pimp players.

Outside of Mariota and maybe Barner I'd take the Pac-12 counter part to Oregon's players. ASJ, Ertz>Lyerla: Woods, Lee or Wheaton, Cooks>Huff, Murphy etc..

I'm sorry, but we have to agree to disagree. I love your team and QB, but Manziel deserves the Heisman.

You just said he has more bulk stats. But lots of player have bulk stats than Manziel.

Oregon would be good without Mariota, A&M wouldn't without Manziel.

Oregon would have a loss or two without him, A&M has a loss or two with Manziel and would have 3 or 4 without him?

You guys are being silly. Mariota has better stats and he is the QB of an undefeated national title contender. Only difference is a cool nickname and Mariota is smoother, making it look easier.

His pass rating is 25 points lower and his team has two losses. You're simply wrong.

Great, but the Heisman voters don't think I am. Thanks for playing.

  • First off, neither of us know what Heisman voters are thinking, we know what ESPN is spinning this week. Remember when Barner was the it vote last week? The Bama win will be forgotten soon. If you're hanging your hopes on this week you're hopeless.

    wig

  • Jesus. Mariota won't even be the top hesiman voter on his own team.

I bet half of college football hasn't even heard of that kid.

Hate to break it to you, but beating down Pac 12 defenses isn't anything impressive. If people thought otherwise, Oregon would have 3 or 4 heisman trophy winners in the past 10 years.

Klein has been leading the vote for a few weeks now I'm pretty sure.

Uh, ok? 3 weeks ago Tao made a surge after OK and people were saying he's number 2, then Barner went off on SC and they had him 2, now Manziel beat Bama and he's the flavor of the week. That was my point.

Mariota is statistically better than Manziel when they play the same level competition and more efficient.

Let's not over hype Johnny. He had 0 TDs and 3 INTs playing LSU.

Last year Thomas did better than that against LSU and everyone will tell you Mariota is far better. In fact a Guy who coached the best prospect since John Elway said this today in a tele-conference.

So Thomas did better than Manziel; against LSU and Mariota is better than Thomas to everyone.

Skill set and stat wise Mariota is superior.

Guess we'll agree to disagree. Until Mariota plays against a defense in the same league as LSU, Florida or Bama then I dont think you can compare accurately. Competition does make a difference.

You point to Manziels game against LSU to prove your case but Mariota hasnt played a defense that's even close to the same caliber as LSU so you have no idea how he would do.

That's way overblown. USC is on the West Coast and has as many Heisman's as anyone. And it's not as if Oregon lacks for media exposure. Mariota is in the conversation, but people have him behind Klein and Manziel. It's reasonable given how each has performed, who they have played against and what talent they have around them. Klein has done as much as Mariota with far less talent around him. And Manziel has played against much better defenses. It's not a West Coast thing.

You also have to take into consideration that Mariota has played half the minutes that Manziel and Klein have played. Mariota has played in the second half twice this year and both times he threw well over 300+ yards and threw for 75% accuracy with no ints and 5tds in one game and 6tds against Cal. That's not including what he did on his feet. Let's see how he does against Stanfords D which is a top ten D.

Idk about that. I would take Matiota and Barner over any QB/RB in the Pac. I would take Colt over any other TE. I would take Fisher, Long and Johnstone over alot of OL. And I would take DAT and Huff over any other WR duo except for Woods and Lee and I would probably take DAT over Woods. Woods has not been overly impressive this year.
