Johnny Football stats vs LSU and UF.. Not Heisman Worthy

  • My problem with Teo is, when looking at the last few defensive guys given a shot at the Heisman (Suh, Matthieu, etc.), he's not the strongest of potential defensive winners (Suh was, IMO). Now, the rest of the field isn't as strong as it was in those years (Manziel being the only real competitor, get out of here with this Klein crap) but I find myself wondering if Teo was on any other team (and was still undefeated), would he be getting as much love?

Nothing wrong with it, that's how voting works.

Nope. He's a great MLB talent on a great defense that has had an average year production-wise.

He has 42 more tackles than anyone else on ND's defense...the #1 scoring defense in the nation. He is 2nd among all linebackers for passes defended. He blows away every linebacker in interceptions and is tied for third in the nation in interceptions among all players. How is that an "average year"?

Where does his total number of tackles rank? Passes defended? Really? roflmao. What about the ranking of the offenses he has played against?

I'll give you Stanford, but GTFO with USC.

By the way, they should have lost that Stanford game on a play that could have been stopped by Teo. Just sayin.

Do explain how they "should have lost" that Stanford game? BTW, Te'o did stop the rb on that play...that is why they are undefeated and in the NC game. Just another great game saving play by Te'o.

1st in tackles on the top scoring defense in the nation. 2nd if you are clueless and making crap up...again. Did you ever figure out what player is better on ND's defense? First you claimed Nix...who ya got now?

Cool. His tackles compared to other players is still VERY average as are his other statistics except interceptions.

Rolando McClain had better stats than T'eo in every category except interceptions in 2009 and he was on the best defense in the country and an undefeated team as well. I don't recall him being mentioned in the Heisman at all.

    Odd. I wonder why?

Gerhart, Ingram, McCoy, Tebow, and Suh are 5 good reasons why. Te'o had more tackles in both 2011 and 2010 this year. No one would say he was a better player last year than he is this year. The #1 tackler in the nation last year was on a team that ranked 100th in scoring defense. Te'o had 42 more tackles than any other player on a team that ranked #1 in scoring defense. He also lead the team in interceptions.

    EDIT
LOL at trying to compare 14 game to 12.

second among all linebackers. He is first among all linebacker and tied for 3rd overall in INTs. Three more than the next closest LB.

I understand the passes defended #'s versus LB but can you not see how that's really an irrelevant stat for LB's?

Not at all. If you are asked to drop back more in coverage and defend against the pass will it not affect several other stats that are often quoted?

The Heisman Trust wants ballots kept secret. Dennis Dodd doesn't want to play along. He wants you to know he voted for Johnny Manziel, and why (have you seen the kid?). There's no more room in the game for keeping things hidden.
