  • It is a decent beer. It is better on draught.

I never had it on draft. Might be the problem.

  • Fat Tire is better on draft. Its a good beer for when you don't want to pay a premium. A lot of taste, not watered down... Its on par with Yuengling for me, and I'm a big fan of Yuengling.

I have had it both ways and it definitely makes a difference. Of course it usually does make a difference.

  • Fat Tire is HANDS DOWN the worst beer made by New Belgium. Their rep has crushed the expectations from what it actually is....

Still think Dogfish DOMINATES any and all brewers. Sam's imagination is second to none and his team is BEYOND creative. There's a reason why Mario Batali chose him as his head for eataly....

I think west coast beers are above and beyond better than anybody else, but Sam is just that damn good. Sah Tea is ridiculous.

depends on the beer. Some much better in a bottle... well, some ONLY in a bottle.

We are talking cheap draft beers here...

I also like Dogfish. I like Fat Tire when not wanting to pay a premium.

Dogfish is easily one of my favorite breweries.

Are you talking about Sam Adam's?

Don't necassarily agree about west coast breweries either. They have some great breweries but so does the midwest, east coast, and even south.

I would always rather pay a little more and get what I pay for.

You can't get beers like Sam Adam's and Dogfish at most neighborhood bars you walk into. I haven't walked into a single one down here, actually. Well, unless you count restaurants. Hell, I can't even find Dogfish in stores here.

Fat Tire is pretty good , but their seasonals are better. New Belgium only makes one beer that I'm not fond of and that's Mothership which is flavored with clove.

    Yeah, I said it.

I refuse to go to a bar without at least a decent beer selection.

Sam and Dogfish aren't even in the same category. You can't get dogfish due to production as is the trouble with New Belgium beers in NYC...

As far as good beers go, yes, they're all over the country, but the west coast DOMINATES everybody else. Ballast Point, Green Flash, Stone, Lagunitas, Lost Abbey, not including all the locals in oregon and washington.

I live in Jersey City and we have GREAT stuff here, but the west coast is where it's at..they are way ahead of everybody else right now..

I don't refuse to go, but very disappointed when I ask for their selection and hear, "Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite, Coors Light, Yuengling, Heineken, Corona, Stella Artois and Blue Moon."

    Where are you located?

    Eastern North Carolina.

I had my first taste of Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale and thought I saw heaven when it traveled down my drinking hole. Sadly, it was on tap(not that its a bad thing, I actually prefer tap), and is normally unavailable at the place that I found it. I haven't found it anywhere else. No restaurants, stores, bars... nowhere. It saddens me greatly. Its like having sex with Mila Kunis, knowing she is still out there and wants you badly, but you can't locate hercry

I hope you included Colorado in with your west coast comments. I live in Denver and I'm surrounded by some of the best breweries in the US.

Fat Tire is good, not great. New Belgium's Abbey, Trippel, Some of their Lips of Faith series beers, and 1554 are excellent beers. Odell, which is just down the street from New Belgium, in my opinion, puts out some of the best beers in the US. Dry Dock Brewing, just a 5 minute drive from my house, just may be the best brewery in Colorado.

I didn't. I like the 1554 a lot. I think Colorado is in a class of their own. After Sierra Nevada, the entire state basically started the entire beer revolution. I don't like to include that Mass beer in any convos, so I look at Sierra as the leader and Colorado blasted everything off...

funny thing is I'm drinking a Dale's Pale Ale as we speak! cheers

  • Everything is all opinion. I'm on a business trip to Charlotte and the place I went to had fat tire, heard it was good so I tried it and really liked it.
