As true as this post is, this year and looking forward I think Stanford is a force on the recruiting trail. IMO their taste of success lowered their admissions standards for football players a little bit.

The major difference in the Bush case is, that even if one is to concede that there were some shenangans going on with Bush and his family's living situation, there was certainly no competitive advantage grantaed toward USC. Nobody from USC was involved and if anything it hurt USC cause it meant that Bush would have to forgoe his senior season at USC. So at worst one could insinuate that somebody associated with USC knew that Bush's family was breaking the rules and didn't say anything. That is a far fukcing cry form say, the head coach at another major institution covering up some shit so his team would be at full strength to play arkansas in some fucking meaningless bcs game.

Anyone who is honest with himself should come to the conclusion that the penalties that USC recieved should have been about 10% of that Ohio St got.

No way can you compare Stanford to Vandy! My SIL is a Vanderbilt man, and I can tell you there is a world of difference in the two universities. There is zero reason Vanderbilt should be as uncompetitive as they are. I would compare Vanderbilt to Notre Dame, and look what they've (Notre Dame) done in football for over a century.

Stanford is on another level entirely, elite of the elite in academics, tons and tons of money, and a strong athletic tradition. They've won the Director's Cup 17 consecutive years. They just haven't cared about football again, till now.

When and if Stanford cares about anything in sports...they will be competitive. Their roster is filled with kids from all over the country, and they're not just white boys. They are going to draw the best of the best in both athletics and academics.
