  • That's honest, and I can't say that I would feel any different if it was me. He said all the "right" things but no can deny that it is messed up for the kids. I do understand the coaches in both situations though but those are the kind of kids that I love to see in crimson. I have mixed feelings on the situation and that's the best way I can say it right now..

  • Saban is sleazy. That is all there is to it. He says it's business but we are talking about 18 year old kids here. Saban signs them to 1 year scholarships so he can drop them when he oversigns. I'm proud that Coach Chizik is not like that. He don't discard kids because they are injured nor if they have cancer. Shon Coleman had cancer when he signed and Coach Chizik honored his scholarship. He is still on scholarship and will be until he graduates even if he never plays a down of football. It is the right thing to do. All recruits that sign with Auburn now get 4 year scholarships and become part of the family. I am thankful that this kid had good guidance and will be in a better place. I feel sorry for the kids that get sucked into Saban's process.

    there is no defending it.

    not possible.

Saban looks like a super douche. sure, it's not his fault, right?

ffffk that... they did him terrible and i hope he runs for 500 yards and 10 touches against them for it...

i hope his performance singlehandedly ruins bama's title hopes every time they play. i hope saban then slits his wrists.

  • Good for Taylor. That kid is very humble & classy. I understnad that it really is a business now and that kids can jump ship at the last moment leaving a team reeling to fill a spot. But as adults and mentors, shouldn't the coaches be held to higher standards? I love what coach Saban has done for our program, but things like this just don't sit well with me. I do think that he does a great job with his kids and he graduates them at a higher rate than most everyone else. He pushes education and teaches them that there is life after football. Where people like Gene Chizik just doesn't and that is just as much on an injustice to these kids as asking some to grayshirt. I think that there should be more articles about that, rather than how a kid had to go to another college outside of his first choice. JMO.

    I'm happy for him.

One reason that the new SEC rule was adopted was to "protect" players that were lost in the numbers game. He was told a month ago that he would possibly grayshirt, then 2.5 weeks ago that he was going to grayshirt, which left him with time to change his mind and go elsewhere if he wasn't happy with it.

I hope he has a good career.

Why couldn't Saban have done that for Justin Taylor, a recruit that had been committed for almost a year and wore a bama hat everywhere he went?

Answer: Because he didn't need him anymore.

Saban don't care about anybody unless they can do something for him.

I understand why he feels that way, but when you have a catastrophic knee injury your senior year I don't think its unfair to ask the kid to get healthy before you bring him on campus.

He was still being given the chance to play when he is healthy and would be getting a free education either way. Worked out pretty well for John Parker Wilson while he was at Bama.

    LOL.

You can't place a kid on a medical hardship that hasn't even signed football scholarship papers.

Shon Coleman DELAYED entering Auburn due to his medical condition, BTW.

If Saban didn't care about Taylor, then he would've just parted ways (kind of like how Chizik did with Michael Flint), but he didn't. He still offered him a full scholarship to UA. All Justin had to do was delay coming by 5 months... just as numerous other successful UA players have done the last few years.

What if he was diagnosed with cancer before he signed? Would it be "unfair to ask the kid to get healthy before you bring him on campus"? Coach Chizik brought Shon Coleman on campus with a scholarship. He didn't have to but that is the difference in Coach Chizik and Saban. Coach Chizik cares about his players even if they haven't signed yet. He wasn't concerned about when Shon Coleman would be able to contribute. Shon was committed to Auburn University and Coach Chizik stuck with him and did the right thing.

Saban didn't care about this kid that had been committed to the University of Alabama for almost a year. The reason wasn't all about the knee injury. He just wanted to dump the kid so he could make room for the kids that would be oversigned. Saban wasn't concerned with the kid not starting school for a year. Saban will never consider doing the right thing if it doesn't benefit him. I hope Saban gets everything he deserves. Saban is the face of the University of Alabama. Thank God that it is not my beloved university.

chiznik was sweet to dyer...until dyer was asked to appear in cheech and chongs next movie.
chiznik showed tremendous leadership...except to the 4 armed gunmen who were robbing a drug trailer...yes trailer...au students willingly choose to live in trailer parks.
    tigger4eva?
has chiznik shown tremendous leadership to the 42% of the 09 and 10 signees who have already left the team?
does trooper taylor teach an ethics class at au?
    or curtis luper sociology?

Saban wasn't willing to let him sign scholarship papers because he needed to take care of his oversigning situation -NOT because of the injured knee.

Correct -Shon Coleman delayed entering Auburn because of his medical condition - NOT becasue Coach Chizik asked him to.

Shon Coleman signed his scholarship papers and got on medical hardship. Coach Chizik didn't have to let him sign the scholarship papers but he did the right thing. He doesn't oversign and dump his commits.

yeah, that's not going to help the graduation rate either. How in the hell do you lose 42% of your last 2 classes? Y'all make UGA look good. Hot about trying to recruit some kids with character. How about trying to help shape these young men in to useful people of society. How about trying to educate them instead of having them not even attend classes as long as they can rush for 1000 yds (Dyer, we're all looking at you). Maybe St. Chiz can salvage what's left of the carnage that is Auburn football recruits. He's an embarrassment to college athletics.

So, what truly happened with Michael Flint? You know, the AU legacy who was the first to commit to Chizik for this class, I believe.

I don't feel that good about it, but lets not act like Bama is all alone here. Chizik an AU dumped Flint after a long commitment as well. I believe Stanford dropped a kid the other day, without even offering a grayshirt option.

So, TigerForever....take your Holier Than Thou shit and cram it up your ass.

look aub fans on a football message board...you care about au football and it's tearing your insides up...so your coping mechanism is 'gene chizik is a good guy'...'nick saban is a bad guy'...save it for facebook...btw the aubs are quiet there as well.
studs don't care about depth charts, playing time etc...you think Bama has playing time to offer?
No, we offer discipline, education, a weight program that will whip your ass, and a chance to compete at the highest level and follow your dreams to the nfl...nobody forces kids to get involved in a program like that. But winners want to give it a shot. ajc articles wont keep studs away from Bama.
what auburn has sold to recruits is 'good times' trooper luper' party time...'family'...that's neat...congrats on stealing will parker wilson adams from gatech...are tech fans butt hurt that he flipped to au...or are aubs the only fanbase that get butt hurt (ie tj yeldon...and have al del taco on the radio calling him a liar).
