Saban pulled Daryl Collins' schollie offer last year, didn't he? And he went to Kentucky too if I remember. Maybe Saban is Kentucky's best recruiter.
From Saban, "We have some people that could not finish the season that will probably not be able to continue to play, that will be replaced, and we have several players that can graduate and may not come back for their fifth year, who have been redshirted. When you add all those things up, plus guys we have that may not qualify, it is not fair to criticize the numbers."
I think that is true for everyone but why is it that Alabama has had 12 players in 4 years who were so severely injured that they might qualify for medical hardships? And if they do qualify, that means they maintain their scholarship so how exactly do they get "replaced"?

Please. Tell me which teams across the country do not claim AP or coaches poll National Titles when awarded by those polls. Could you also list those teams that have won, tied or lost their bowl games and still sometimes were awarded an AP or Coaches NC. I'll start....... Notre Dame, USC, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Auburn, and every other school that's ever won them.

So it was just a coincidence that the only two players asked to grayshirt were the two coming off of knee surgeries? Are you claiming that our staff had Caleb Gulledge rated ahead of Philon? Really?
When did CNS ever not let a kid have a scholarship because of a medical issue? Name one.
We've signed NUMEROUS players in the last 3 classes coming off of knee surgeries. All of them are still on our roster. Both of our commitments with knee injuries/surgeries were asked to grayshirt. They didn't have their offers pulled and they didn't get "cut," as an AU beat writer said on the radio this morning, or "dumped" as you want to claim. We have been grayshirting ever since 2004 and there has yet to be a single player that hasn't had their scholarship honored afterwards, despite what you want to claim. If there has, name him.
Earlier this year the AU fans were crying about Saban overusing the medical hardship waiver, but now you're claiming that Chizik is doing a good thing by using it? Which is it?

there is no defending it.
not possible.
Saban looks like a super douche. sure, it's not his fault, right?
ffffk that... they did him terrible and i hope he runs for 500 yards and 10 touches against them for it...
i hope his performance singlehandedly ruins bama's title hopes every time they play. i hope saban then slits his wrists.

I love the bleeding hearts in here... Ohh wait where we're they when Taylor got injured and GT, Uga and others not only pulled scholarship offers but quit talking to the kid. I guess they were great moral leaders there. Facts are this, kid knew there was a chance he would be grey shirted. Saban told him this and said Alabama would stick by him but that he had to greyshirt. This wasn't sprung on him on signing day. Also if you pansies on here are so thinking this kid got screwed then why aren't all of you up in arms about having a early signing period. Saban is one of the few coaches who wants one. Funny though all we hear is about saban but not one word about les miles and how he cut a kid one day before signing early in Patrick miller. He signed with auburn but only because lsu pulled his early scholarship because they needed it for gunner Kiel. That kid was a 4 star and not one bleep from you bleeding hearts.

Give me a break. I am tired of hearing about hearing that these kids being only 18-19 years old. I have a 19 year old nephew fighting in Afganistan. You are asking these "kids" to wait 6 moths to start getting a free education.

If you ask a kid not to look around at other schools while your committed to play for your school then you should not ask him just before signing day to take a grey shirt. He did his part now you do yours. Both Saban and Miles did it so i'm not bashing Saban. I'm active duty military so i can say this but if you nephew came back for the war and the military asked him to wait 6 months to start his GI bill after he did what they asked of him he would be upset too.

Your analogy about the GI coming home and it be like us not honoring his GI bill is not even close to the situation. First of all GI's aren't promised money for college. The military doesn't give away money for promises. Those kids on the GI bill "earned" their money they were never given it. They busted their butts for it.
Honestly I hope Saban becomes more cold blooded next time. Next time a kid has a scholarship offer and he gets hurt just go ahead and cut the offer and cut contact with the kid. Do what all these fine moralistic coaches did with Taylor. I mean isn't that what you all are asking for that Saban be more moralistic? Well there you go, he can be like every other fine upstanding coach who didn't even bother to call Taylor after he tore his knee up, they all showed what fine men of character they were.

Saban is sleazy. That is all there is to it. He says it's business but we are talking about 18 year old kids here. Saban signs them to 1 year scholarships so he can drop them when he oversigns. I'm proud that Coach Chizik is not like that. He don't discard kids because they are injured nor if they have cancer. Shon Coleman had cancer when he signed and Coach Chizik honored his scholarship. He is still on scholarship and will be until he graduates even if he never plays a down of football. It is the right thing to do. All recruits that sign with Auburn now get 4 year scholarships and become part of the family. I am thankful that this kid had good guidance and will be in a better place. I feel sorry for the kids that get sucked into Saban's process.
