well, you're wrong, of course. the color does have an importance, which is why every other organization everywhere uses red, which signifies danger, not maroon, which signifies sucking out loud.

No, the color doesn't matter. It could be grey, as long as students and faculty know what to do.

i agree with you ag. it shouldn't matter what color the code is as long as enough people know and the word is spread to help people avoid the incident. at my job i am the safety coordinator and that's the best you bad hope. that enough workers will know which codes are which and will step up and lead people to safety

What the hell does anything matter? Just because it has worked to this point doesn't mean it always will. I go back to the 9/11 example. Airport sercurity worked fine up until 9/11, so before that happened was it fine? The guy is just suggesting that they don't mix school pride with a potential deadly situation I see no fault with this.

You are overreacting to say the least. Instead of the guy who is worrying about safety apologizing, how about you apologize for the pointless thread?

you're wrong dude. robbery or shooting at my place of employment is a code black. as i said im. the safety coordinator so every place isn't code red. sometimes code red could mean a tornado or a bad storm or anything.

No, because he called us morons for no reason. The color doesn't matter, it's the way the system works that is important. The dude is dead wrong, and he took a cheap shot at a horrific incident.

i don't think its pointless. the point is he didn't have to go on video sayin what he said at this time. if he did it next week is may not seem as bad.

  • It is probably confusing for new students who already know "Code Red" means high alert while "Code maroon" could be anything from a pep rally to apparently a shooter. aTm has a systemic problem of putting brand over substance and usefulness.

Michigan doesn't use "Code Maize." Texas doesn't use "Code Burnt Orange." Alabama doesn't use "Code Crimson."

didn't see a single post in that thread from you so how about you take your own advice instead of arguing with ag about something that he feels strongly about and is gonna change his mind about no matter what you say

texas absolutely does not use "code burnt orange." i'd put money on the other schools not doing anything of the sort either, because they aren't run by absolute fools.

How is it a cheap shot? It is pretty moronic putting school pride over actual real life danger. Sure faculty and students may know code maroon means danger, but a person visiting college station likely has no idea. The guy has a valid point, and you are whining like normal whenever someone doesn't bow down to Aggie.

i doubt they do either but i would be willing to bet that a code red doesn't specifically mean a shooting at Texas either. it could be red black brown or blue. depends on the place and how they have their codes set up. i don't think they gave much thought into why a shooting was a code maroon. its really not a big deal. i think you're more less just arguing with ag because he is a atm for more than anything. aren't you?

well he should have said that about everywhere because their is no universal code for every place out there. if he would have said that their needs to be codes that are universal then i wouldn't have a problem. but he did take a shot at atm with what he said and it was totally uncalled for

I'm sorry, is there a person stationed at every entrance to campus explaining what a code maroon is? Of course visitors don't know what it means. Sure, students and faculty might, but what about the parents of a student? What about a delivery guy? What about anybody who didn't receive student or faculty orientation?

To assume that all visitors know what "code maroon" means is just silly and shortsighted.
