Would have never thought it would even be possible after their first game of the season. I'm sure you remember that wild ass play when the guy ran the punt back the wrong way and the other team tackled him instead of taking the points. I can't remember the other team they were playing, or which way it went, but that was a clusterfvck on both sides.

Is that even with an unranked BE champion?

Was there a qualifying non-AQ team though that year? I thought it was Top 16 or 20 if BE champ was unranked.

It's 14 and I'm pretty confident on that.

Automatic qualification

3. The champion of Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, or the Western Athletic Conference will earn an automatic berth in a BCS bowl game if either:

A. Such team is ranked in the top 12 of the final BCS Standings, or,
B. Such team is ranked in the top 16 of the final BCS Standings and its ranking in the final BCS Standings is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth in one of the BCS bowls.

No more than one such team from Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference shall earn an automatic berth in any year. (Note: a second team may be eligible for at-large eligibility as noted below.) If two or more teams from those conferences satisfy the provisions for an automatic berth, then the team with the highest finish in the final BCS Standings will receive the automatic berth, and the remaining team or teams will be considered for at-large selection if it meets the criteria.

Well I wasnt sure at first so I looked it up on the website before posting so i cant take too much credit.

And ND is seperate from this rule. They have thier own rule which is a whole different story.

All i know is that BCS is going to be an absolute mess this year. You could have 6 sec teams in the top 10 and i could see a 3 loss team getting an at-large bid for the first time( I believe).

Only problem is they will lose to NIU next week, easily the best team in the MAC this year.

Bump. Kent State just needs to win and move up one spot to get a bid.

I realize every MSU fan went there because really, why else would you watch them play.

If there's one thing that unites OSU and UM, it's their Walmart fanbases.

I like to think that, in that scenario, you would choose to be a die-hard Kent State fan, amassing thousands of delusional posts on the Golden Flashes message board about how Kent State football is entering a new era.
