This is easily the silliest thing I've heard today. Aren't there more appropriate ways to punish a bonehead move from a 13 year old?? Get creative with it and make him write an essay on why you don't do that type of thing. Don't just suspend him.
Edit: oops! Just read the article and it was an in-school suspension.

I remember ISI.. In school isolation is what they called it. Had do to that a couple times back when I was in high school.
Pretty cool, you get to sit there and do school work all day. Not really much of a punishment.

When I was in school, in school suspension meant that instead of going to your regular classes you just went to one classroom and stayed there. It was supervised by a softball coach or something like that and was the very definition of tarded.
I had it one time and after the dude took roll I got up and went to the football locker room and played video games.
Big freakin' deal. Anyone that's up in arms over this punishment is beyond gray.

Yup, you immediately lose credibility when you play that card where it clearly is not a mitigating factor. Racism is still a serious problem in our society and when you trivialize it you do a huge disservice to those situations where it clearly is a factor.

The little was probably trying to get suspended. It's approaching mid-June. Nobody wants to be in school.
Edit:
The article headline is a bit misleading. He got one day of in-school suspension. That's not even a real suspension. You don't miss any work, and it doesn't negatively impact grades (which, do they really matter in 7th grade anyway?). His mother seems like a real piece of work.

I do agree though, the sooner everyone stops using race as an argument the sooner race will no longer be an issue.
We're all Americans and that's all that should matter, imo.
