    Not really, most of your comments are so far off the charts for normal human beings that it would be easy to label you a troll.   • Maybe my background of being raised in a military family, helped me appreciate the flag.

    The parents should have taught the 13 year old a long time ago what the American flag stands for. My 13 year old knows exactly what the flag represents and knows exactly what will happen to him if he disrespects it in any way.

  • No offense to any of our marines on here (thanks for your service), but if a kid can't use what he obviously viewed as a piece of fabric to wipe his hands, then we're starting to fail at protecting our freedoms at home. Forcing him to ascribe the same significance to the the flag as everyone else is a play straight out of the fascist playbook, and therefore sorta un-American (IMO).

  • you know, i could see if this situation was in some way some sort of protest, or done out of outright disrespect or rebellion, but in reality, it is just a boneheaded move of a 13 year old kid.

    the bathroom is out of paper towels, and the kid uses a nearby flag. the overreaction is enough to make someone sick, though, as this should have never even made the papers.

    there is no blatant disrespect here, and none shown. it is simply a boneheaded move of a 13 year old. race-baiting and all the rest aside. this story is more a product of the hyper-aggressive media machine than anything else. they truly make stories like this a lot larger than they are as a business decision. if you all are looking for a villain, you need to look no further than muckraking journalism. find a hot-button and beat it to death in any way possible is the mantra they serve, and the argument in this thread serves them well.

    i bet they got a lot of clicks, and thereby a lot of advertising impressions by the link provided, and that is sad.

    Totally agree, media is crazy. They will play any card for some hits or subs. Also a special needs kid doing this shouldn't be hammered. If you mad, be mad at the kids parents. On the topic of totally overreacting. Way to pull the hitler card scout you moronbanghead

    I am pretty sure that person would be thrown in jail for burning a flag, if not jail then some other form of punishment. Not 100% on that though.
