    No. He just matched the money. Pretty simple. Was the best thing for Smart's career as well. We don't hear UGA's DC up for any major jobs now do we?

    Not so. He had agreed to take the job, was all set to come here, and then Little Nicky found out. Not a dumb move when you're the HC in waiting.

    You mean Nick Saban got him the same money to stay at a better job where he didn't have to put up with a HC screwing things up for him. Another ring later and UGA still hopelessly devoted to Richt, he is thanking his lucky stars.

    Smart played for Georgia, and loves the Dawgs. His dream job would be the HC at UGA.

    He loves them so much that he stayed at Bama for the same money? Captain is right then, it was probably because he found coaching for Richt to be as laughable as everyone does.

    Actually genius scheduling those games together though. If the SEC format stays the same, you guys should just make Ga Southen a permenant game as long as Johnson is at Tech.

    Agree. If Smart can get a job at a program like Auburn for his first job, no way you can turn that down. I also doubt most Bama fans would hate him for it either. Alabama fans still love Sal and he left for Tennessee.

    A lot of younger Alabama fans don't understand how to hate Tennessee correctly

    No LSU or Bama on the regular season schedule. Don't worry, UGA has an ass beating awaiting them in the Dome

    I agree. Tennessee is our biggest rival, IMO. Auburn is big, but mainly because of implications of living in the same state.

    LSU has developed into a good modern day rivalry but it will always be at least in my book

    I have always viewed it that way. I was alive in the 70's and at that point, Tennessee was THE game. It just goes back to Tennessee and Alabama being the 2 powers from the Southeast for so long. Alabama was on the winning side of it more than often, but the winner of that game just used to decide so much.

    The Alabama/Tennessee game was at the level of Texas/OU during the 2000's when the winner of that game had a national title shot a lot of years. The game has lessened some since it has been about streaks for so long now, but to fans that are probably 40 and older, a lot of them would say Tennessee is bigger. Auburn is bigger to the younger crowd though.

    I am not trying to knock Auburn by saying this as some will try to say. Auburn in still a big deal. Really until Ga Tech left the SEC, Alabama's rivalries were as follows:

    Tennessee
    Georgia Tech
    Ole Miss
    Georgia
    Auburn

    Obviously that has changed drastically today as most would say Auburn first and some even LSU before Tennessee, but to me it will always be Tennessee, if not just for the history and tradition of things.

  • Why should Tenn feel better because they are Bama's biggest rival? They have been crap for so long that winning should be their biggest concern. Cork Bama. Bama's fans always seem to think that they are the center of the college universe. If Oregon wins a title, I do not think they would care what Bama's history is.

    Unless you are over thirty there is no reason you should consider Tenn. our biggest rival. I feel like a lot of my fellow Bama fans just say it's our biggest rival just because they think they are supposed to feel that way. Even historically it's not the best rivalry and hasn't been since the 70's.
