Know someone that got diagnosed with cancer

  • I am in absolute shock. I interned with her a year ago, and she was one of the nicest individuals you could ever meet. Always leading the way to organize charity events, and finding ways to give back to people. I guess she has stage 4 ewings sarcoma as it has spread to her femur, back and lungs. As if that wasn't bad enough, she was uninsured at the time of diagnosis and has 30k in medical bills from this. She'll be fighting this for a year. Hopefully she turns out well, but admitably I know absolutely nothing about this type of cancer. I just cant believe something this terrible could ever happen to as high of quality individual she is.

Such is life, cruel and unusual at times, especially to those who do not deserve anything, such as news tragic as this.

Prayers to this individual you speak of.. On my mind and in my heart. pray

  • My aunt passed away about a year ago from cancer. It's truly an awful thing. She was the nicest, most carefree person I knew. She was the only person I knew that called me by my full first name and the only person who would kiss me on the cheek every time she said hello or goodbye. For some reason, I loved those things about her. She truly lived her life to the fullest, and she did not deserve what happened to her.

I know how this feels man. It's rough.

My thoughts are with you and her and her family.

  • Cancer sucks. My dad had it and it is not a pretty thing to watch someone go through. My dad was always around 215 lbs when he passed he was about 90lbs. Prayers definitely sent.

  • Sorry to hear of your friend. Cancer is a terrible thing. I have lost people in my own family and my mother in law just remissed from her breast cancer.

Be there for her (if you can), and anyone else who goes through this. It's tough to see them suffer, but being there for them is the best thing you can do. Somedays, they will just need someone to talk to. Prayers for anyone who has to fight cancer.

Thoughts and prayers for her. Maybe you can spearhead a fundraiser for her. Golf scramble w a silent and/or live auction has done really well for a few people I know. You'd be amazed at what local business' will be willing to donate. Its a lot of legwork, but the end result is worth every minute. Also, if u know anyone w a timeshare or rental property, that has always brought in some good $$$, if they are willing to donate a week.

Yeah, she has a lot of friends that have put together fundraisers for her and events and it looks like local businesses are helping as well. She has a website right now with details. United4maria.com

  • My former RA partner at Bama was diagnosed with Luekemia a few months before graduation.

She was declared 'free' like a year later but she passed away another year after that.

Like your friend, she was one of the nicest people you'd ever meet.

smh, unreal how that works. Too be honest, I really dont know how bad it is, just from whatever it says on her webpage. I found out through a friend, who was in the same program as her, over lunch with him.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you! I myself have cancer. Was diagnosed 9-29-11, It's been a tough fight. But I am doing much better. Tell her to pray, and eat lots of fruits and vegetables. I will pray fpr her, and you also. Please keep me posted on her, and if she needs someone to talk to that's been in her shoes, just inbox me. I'd be happy to help any way I can! Good luck and God bless!!
