I think for you all to be shooting this down as if it couldn't even be possible is far more ignorant than what the OP is saying. What Kobe is doing this season is incredible, especially when you look at the metric stats. Their PER's are about the same, but Kobe's shooting has been through the roof, 60% true shooting percentage is just silly for a guard who takes as many shots as Kobe. Jordan's usage was actually higher also which resulted in much better assist percentage but 1. no knowledgable basketball fan would ever compare MJ's passing with Kobe's and 2. MJ's team was better than Kobe's to this point at least. Its yet to be seen if Kobe can prolong this but if he can I think I might actually agree with the OP on an individual basis.

This is outrageous. They didn't both enter the league at the same time. Do it by season. Also. Kobe has had more talent around him than Micheal ever did. Especially interior talent, which is one of the most important pieces to winning championships. Get out of here with this argument. It's silly

Wouldn't Kobe entering the league at a much earlier age actually be an argument in his favor?
Look, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time. I don't think anyone would argue that. I just think its silly that it's sacreligious to say anyone could have been better than Mike at any thing at any time. All the OP is saying is that at 34, Kobe is playing better than MJ was at 34. It's highly debatable, and an argument that can only truly be measured after Kobe's season, but on an individual basis so far what Kobe is doing is nothing short of spectacular.
The guy is top ten all time, I don't think that's debatable.

kobe is not as close to jordan as many of you think. This age idea doesnt make sense. Kobe is a top 5 guard already, and is approaching top 10 GOAT if he has continued success. I respect the guy but this arguement gets on my nerves because its cause is to say that "oh look, maybe if kobe keeps playing well he'll catch MJ. And quite simply, statistically that is going to be near impossible. Its not that i'm an "MJ" guy, i just love history and when i see posts like this i feel like they somehow distort the real story.
