Kobe at age 34 > MJ at age 34

kobe is not as close to jordan as many of you think. This age idea doesnt make sense. Kobe is a top 5 guard already, and is approaching top 10 GOAT if he has continued success. I respect the guy but this arguement gets on my nerves because its cause is to say that "oh look, maybe if kobe keeps playing well he'll catch MJ. And quite simply, statistically that is going to be near impossible. Its not that i'm an "MJ" guy, i just love history and when i see posts like this i feel like they somehow distort the real story.

If you want a great statistical analysis of the two, click the link below. Sorry, i'm not trying to s**t on anyone, just trying to put things in perspective like everyone else is.

    Thanks for that

Frankly the tale of the tape on reg season stats is kinda ”whatever”

But what seperates them by a fairly substantal margin is finals mvp's and clutch perormances....not even close.

Yea seriously I was trying to help him if the argument stayed on that track. Dude just sounds bitter now. Nobody dominated an era individually like MJ. In the 90's, if he played, he won a ring, and that was during one of the most competitive times in NBA history too. Kobe can't say that. Nobody can really say that.

    Wrong.

Even if Kobe were to get another ring this year....and we all know that's not likely to happen...and even if he were to get finals MVP, he's still three behind MJ.

Kobe is and has been a great player. But you just come across as a retarded fanboy trying g to make the case that can't be made: that he's as good as or better than MJ

This fact is never going to change: MJ>>>>Kobe.

I'm a huuuge Lakers and Kobe fan, but I agree with this. MJ is the greatest, and probably always will be. However, people that try and talk as if Kobe isn't the greatest we've seen since Jordan, are just hating on him. Kobe's desire to win, and his competiveness is second to none. He's an amazing basketball player to watch, some people just can't get past the fact that he's an asshole (Jordan was too).

And to think, even with that bad season from downtown, their career 3P% is nearly identical.

    MJ 32.7%
    Kobe 33.8%

You would think for sure Kobe made a higher % of clutch shots then or, at the very least, was an equal overall shooter from the floor. Quite shocking to see the differences there.

At 34 years old, it looks like Kobe is doing exactly that... being better. I thought thats what this thread was about, I must have missed something.

Easy there. Behind Wilt, MJ is the greatest that ever laced them up....POINT BLANK! The OT posts were in response to some of the vitriol being spewed by the insecure Jordan fellar.

The level Kobe is playing at this year, at the age of 34 is unbelievable. I really hope he can continue to play like this for the rest of the year. As long as they're winning of course. If they all start to click, and win games, and as a result, he shoots less, or scores less, I'm totally fine with that too.

Agree it's pretty insane. I think his scoring will stay about the same but is efficiency will go way up with Nash back. No more 40 shot games, more like the 18-25 range.

If able, I think he should take around a week off in March/April sometime with an 'injury' so he can gear up for May/June. I am not sure he can sustain this 40 mins a game pace.

Yeah, the minutes will really add up at the end of the game. I think I heard somewhere that he's logged +50K mins over his career. I hope they're in a position as far as the playoff standings go for him to take a "breather" towards the end of the year.
