    A fanboy is someone struggling to make a case that can't be made...like the OP hunting down some extraneous isolated factoid to try to imply that Kobe is on a par with MJ...because of a single bit of minutiae which is pretty much apropos of nothing.

    But you guys keep digging for whatever puts your boy in the most favorable light possible, dim though it may be by comparison.

    All that does is remove the most recent three years for Kobe. If you're going to do anything, it makes sense to throw out Kobe's numbers from years 1-3 as Jordan wasn't in the NBA at that age.

    You make a solid case, but the flaw in the argument is the talent disparity from that time to now. And obviously Lebron had 3 more years to build those stats or gain experience to help him achieve those stats.

    True, but he more or less didn't accomplish much his first three years in the league. If you threw those out it would only change I think playoff series wins and win pct.

    The East was down when he won it in 2007, but since 2008 the talent in the East has been excellent.

The hand check rule you can't put your hands on a guy in today's NBA, if MJ played today he would average at least 50.     All that matters is what you have accomplished at whichever point in your career. Players typically play until they are 36-38. It doesn't matter if you come in at 18 or 22. It's not as if players are limited to X amount of years.

    Apply this to the business world. Imagine two guys. One becomes a CEO of a company at 40, despite not going to business school first. The second one does get his MBA, but doesn't become a CEO until 44. Who is more successful at age 40?

  • Most high school to pro guys break down a lot earlier than guys who went to college.

    Look at the list of the HS guys whose bodies have broken down in their early thirties. Lebron is a freak and a workout warrior so he might be different, but that's a real possibility.

Just reiterates my earlier point that if you say MJ wasn't the best in every facet of the game at any time it's freakin sacreligious.

    Good point but wait I got the answer, Let's see oh ya i got it, MJ went to college for 3 years while LBJ came straight out of High school. The funniest thing I ever heard is people comparing LBJ to MJ, MJ at age 40 I don't think Jason Kidd or sean marion would be able to shut him down in the Finals let alone like they did in shutdown LBJ in his prime...
