Kobe at age 34 > MJ at age 34

Your just embarrassing yourself man, LBJ was punk'd out by the celtics, magic so he had to join forces with his boy Dwayne Wade b/c he couldn't handle the pressure, so then he gets to the NBA finals and gets shut down by the matrix and jason kidd lmaoo b/c his softer than cottonelle tissue. Using your logic he's going up against the most ferocious NBA player and best NBA player of all-time who has destroyed everything in his path. To the think LBJ would own MJ is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard in my life. About your comment about Pippen being a better defender than MJ, PIppen challenged MJ in practice and MJ embarrassed him in every meaning of the word, he made Pippen tap out and he never questioned the greatness of 23 again, good job good effort but your posts are complete trash..

    Play

    Iverson Practice!

Allen Iverson says practive 20 times in a press conference. One for the ages.

Were you there at the practices with Jordan and Pippen? Remember, I coached hoops for a long time and have a lot of people in the know with this.

Jordan admitted publicly that Pippen for a stretch was the best player on the team and that's a fact. Is Pip better than Mike? No, but Jordan had MAJOR help. Lebron had NONE til he went to the heat. I find it amusing that guys like Jordan, Bird and Magic have mentioned that they didn't leave their team...

Ummm...you guys are geniuses. You didn't have to, ya' morons.

It's called doing research, Craig Hodges told the story at practice when Pippen challenged Jordan and Jordan physically embarassed him and just reinged shots on him that it was like a man vs. a child. Pippen backed off and never challenged 23 again. He prob said that to get Pippen's confidence up b/c every 1 knows that Scottie is a mental midget when he refused to come into the game and how he choked big time for the blazers, Jordan never thought for a second Pippen was better than him. PIppen is overrated, Jordan carried him after Jordan retired Pippen went on to choke for the Blazers, Also your teammates have nothing to do with Lebron pulling a Houdini act against the Celtics twice and against the MAvericks, when Jordan lost he went down swinging he scored at will he was just with a bunch of scrubs. Name me one time Jordan was shut down in a NBA finals?..

Well they can't play each other in a game geinus b/c they were on the same team, Scottie had the bad back against the Jazz and was basically a ghost and MJ had to carry the team to the title remember that?

You realize that as a player you can't do what you want to do, correct?

Or do you think that these guys just go out there and "ball out, son"?

You can demand the basketball, the one time the coach drew up a play and Bird said just give me the ball and get the hell out of the way. Lebron lacks the mental toughness and doens't want the ball at the end of games something Jordan thrived on, if you tried running a play in which Jordan didn't touch the ball he would berate everyone. Name me one time Jordan was shut down in the NBA finals?..

Who is saying Jordan was shut down in the finals? Personally, I have no idea, nor am I going to spend the time looking up EVERY single final game Jordan was in. Also, Lebron is taller. Lebron is bigger. Lebron is stronger. Lebron can jump higher. Lebron can run faster. These are facts. So to say that Jordan would destroy Lebron is just an ignorant statement. Do you really think that Lebron would just back down in this ridiculous, impossible scenario?

Players are better today and the league is better today. You want proof? Here you go...how many people played basketball in 1990 and how many play now? Game over.

I said that b/c Lebron was shut down in the NBA finals when he played Dallas and MJ never was, look at how many horrible teams their are in the NBA, MJ also won the Defensive MVP people forget how great of a defender he was. Yes MJ would embarass LBJ just like every other player has destroyed in his career, don't ever bet against MJ you'll lose...

2002-03 Season, Kobe averaged 30 points, 7 assists, and 6 boards/game. Shaq 27 points, 11 boards, and 3 assists. 2003-04 Season, Kobe averaged 24 points, 5 boards, and 5 assists/game. Shaq 21 points, 11 boards, and 3 assists again. A person with a rational thought could absolutely argue that towards the end of their run together, Kobe was overtaking Shaq as the best player. However, I do enjoy you stating things like that without actually looking up any facts biggrin

    Here are some facts:
    Shaq 02-03 57.9 fg% on 1211 shots taken.
Kobe 02-03 45.1 fg% on 1924 (say what!) shots taken.

    Shaq 03-04 58 fg% 948 shots taken
    Kobe 03-04 43 fg% 1124 shots taken

So to recap, they averaged nearly the same amount of points, though Shaq did so with far fewer shots. Kobe wasn't even sniffing 50% from the field even with Shaq getting double teamed anytime he touched the ball. 43%? That's pathetic. There's no sense in even bringing assists into the debate as Shaq was a center. Though 3 assists a game for a center is pretty good. If you're starting a team and both players are in the prime of their careers, smart folks will take Shaq every time no question.

  • Kobe Face!

Hard to believe Kobe is still playing at this level. Every now and then you can see games where he just doesn't have it in him. But more often than not, dude is on another level and still looks like a top 5 player in the league. Hope he has enough gas for the playoffs if we can get there. Better load up on those PEDs.

Check the date on the original post. And Jordan's team consisted of the greatest rebounder in modern history, the best perimeter defender in NBA history, and the greatest 3 point shooter in NBA history. The year Jordan ditched his teammates to suck at baseball, they won 55 games and were 1 egregious call away from another finals appearance. Take away Kobe from this Laker team and they'll be lucky to win 12 games.

Shaq missed 15-20 gms, in both those scenarios.

He played in around 65 gms/yr, his last 3 yrs in LA.

Makes it all the more remarkable. Though of the 2 years he mentioned only the 02-03 season saw a significant amount of games missed when compared with Kobe over those same seasons.

I'll give you Rodman. But no way can you call Pippen the greatest perimeter defender in NBA history. Pippen wasn't even the best perimeter defender on his own team. Sure Steve Kerr shot a great percentage from 3, but it was in spot duty with the greatest player ever, and another future HOF on his team drawing double and triple teams. I'd hardly call that an acomplishment.

I never said it wasn't remarkable, Shaq was the man.

03/04 Kobe jacked up a bunch of shots and he probably missed more gms than Shaq.
