Well, Hootie has strong ties to South Carolina....and Augusta National. He retired in '06 and Billy Payne works closely with him.
Cool to see. They didn't do this due to pressure from media, though, if so, they would have done in 2002.

You need to be rich and go to Burning Tree in Bethesda, MD.
From Wiki
There are no women's lockerrooms or bathrooms at Burning Tree. No women are permitted inside the club at all, not even for service reasons or parties, with rare exceptions. A recent allowance was made for the spring cocktail party, and women are allowed into the pro shop in December to holiday shop for their husbands.[3] They can do this only by appointment, during very restrictive hours, and only on Saturdays.

I don't care one way or another. But, why are we giving kudos to an all male club letting in two women? Did they do something "right" by letting women in? Is there something wrong with having an all male club? Of course not.

I'm not saying it's necessarily a negative. I'm just not sure why it's a positive. We're talking about a private and privately funded club. Why is it important for them to have women? No one forced Augusta into admitting women. They made this decision on their own; a big reason I feel they deserve kudos.

This is the point that makes for an interesting discussion. If they were pressured to, no, that's not right. However, everyone always brings up that they're a private club and can do what they want and if they CHOSE to do this, what's the complaining for?
