  • Ask him when evaluating linemen at each position (g, t, c) what are the top three things he looks for?

  • Guys, we spent a couple hours with Kyle today and did not get a chance to individually address each question. He spoke in general terms on Hoke (with me), and went real in-depth with his love for New Orleans, his career and his work with concussions and that will all be in the piece we're working on. He'll be back next week, or the week after and is going to go through each one to make sure you get your questions answered.

    Some quick bullets:
On Hoke: He's a great coach. I think he's needs some more guys on both sides of the line to stay near the top
On New Orleans: You don't realize how great New Orleans is to play in until you play for another team. It's like a family there.
On his son playing football: Because of what I know about the development of the brain, concussions and other debilitating injuries, I think I would prefer my son plays other sports until 15-16. Aside from the obvious potential harm to his brain/body, I think you learn a lot about leverage or build the right type of strength in sports like wrestling, and it's good to have other experiences before playing a contact sport like football.
On football: If I had contract, I would play again tomorrow.

Great guy who wants to educate young football players not just about concussions, but what they can do to improve their overall well-being and become the best they can be at what their passions are.

He's going to do an entire piece on this with us. Didn't want to give too much away now, but it's coming.

No, each time we shook hands. I usually don't fist bump on the first meeting unless I have prior knowledge that the person prefers fist bumps.

  • Awesome job. Makes me think about when to put my kid into tackle football. All along I have thought the sooner the better, but that is for my selfish reason of watching my kid play FB. I am going to look into it, or point it out to my wife and she will shut it down.

My kid is already in wrestling, most physically demanding sport I ever participated in.

It's tough because there are plenty of boys that want to play at an early and would not understand the reasons for not allowing it.... and they may get just as messed up riding their dirt bike.

My buddy Hanks lined up right next to Turley on the OL at Valley View. I've heard some good. stories about how crazy he was back in high school.

Gonna start answering these while we each lunch... my posts will be Kyle's comments.

For this one, "Oh wow, blast from the past. Go Eagles! Tell Hanks I said what's up!

In his opinion what is the bigger rivalry, OSU/UM or AU/UA? This should solve some problems on tBB.

Auburn/Alabama for sure, that dude poisoned the trees. You don't get any crazier than the South when it comes to football.
